Forget Newton, we have players. I know it sucks that we always get close to these type of players and always come away with the short end of the stick, but it is what it is. We have a good young QB with some good young skill players. In the long run, it might be best that we didn't get Newton, and that's all we can hope for, b/c we got mstated again. Let's just hope Russell grows up quick, and Relf keeps getting better. We will be ok.

It is more about how Dan Mullen has a proven record of developing QBs, the fact that we were on Newton first, the fact that we had everything going for us including Newton at the Egg Bowl and Cecil in town with him then losing him to a johnny-come-lately who courted him for just over a week. Losing this recruiting war which, by any logical thought, should have been in our favor does not raise my recruiting hopes in areas where we have coaches that do not have the track record that Mullen has for developing certain positions.

Sure...sure we may have been outbidded. Count me as one of those that thinks everybody does it. I just can't believe that when all things were considered that the Newtons probably settled for 1 more zero now in exchange for passing up a couple of extra zeros come draft day. Good luck as an H-back in the NFL Cam! You lose!

A frequent argument on this board is that MS athletes can compete against anyone. # in pros, etc. constantly comes up. Well frankly it is time for Tyler Russell to step up and prove it. He is a winner, knows how to win and last year had the talent we needed. Maybe Newton went to AU because CDM would not guarantee him a starting position, but had to earn it. With Russel and Relf maybe he thought that was not a sure thing. I say we will be fine next year with who we have. Sign Farve for some of future but start working today on 2011 top QB's......

I agree, Newton loses. They claim they compared coaches. Well Cecil, wouldn't you rather your son play for a coach with Mullen's track record of developing QB's. Tyler Russell wins.

In 3 years you will look like a brilliant man. Everyone will say, "I can't believe we were the only school in the SEC to offer that guy a scholarship."
