Could care less about Lifetime, TLC, and all that other mess being digital. I'm just ready for them to clear up the bandwidth to roll out the HD. If the Jackson lineup is similar to the Tupelo's when they went all digital this past winter, I'll be happy with the move. I don't envy the backlash they'll receive from the blue hairs and toothless crowd who won't be able to figure out how to hook up one of them box contraptions to their circa 1980s television.

I will now have to have boxes in my kitchen, bathroom and on the back porch. Is there any service like uverse or satellite that doesn't require a box on every damn tv?

Comcast in Tupelo started this a couple of months ago. Two boxes free each additional box is $2.00 month. About the size of a deck of cards and comes with remote.

you get two with an account and I think extras are $1.99/month.

It goes from the wall to the little digital box to the TV. It's really not that big of a deal to me except if you have a lot of TV's. I already have boxes on two TVs and thats all we have in the house.

Edit to say - I see Tupelo Tim already said all this.

Gonna take up an already used wall outlet, which means I have to unplug my espresso machine or use a splitter and then I have another damn remote. I have 6 tv's in my house with two HDTV boxes already. Do you know if U-verse or satellite makes you have a box on every tv too?

...did he have to have a separate remote for each box, which only worked with its corresponding box.

To be clear, you'llbe provided aremote for each box. Any of the remotes will work on any of the boxes. But you must useone of theremotes to change the channel on any box. Whatever 'favorites' or whatever you use with the TV or TV remote will now be useless.

Those extra few mms can really be a pain, I'm sure ... or maybe it's just your ordinary "dick for no reason" post. <div>
</div><div>To the original point, though, I agree. It's a big upgrade to service and it's not that big of a deal unless you have a great number of TVs.</div>

Where was I being a dick for no reason? It was funny because of the varying size comparisons of the same cable box. One person (tupelotim) immediately compared it to "a deck of cards", while DS's first inclination was to describe it as "a pack of cigarrettes." I found the subconcious thought processes humorous.

I'll give you credit, I am often a dick for no reason.... but not this time. Hell, I'm even a nicotine addict myself (assuming you thought I was being a dick about the cigarrette part).

BTW, thanks for following and remembering my posts on sixpack! (this part is being a dick for no reason)

Even if you have a new digital TV, I really hate Comcast now
.
So I will ask again does anyone know if with U-verse and Satellite do you have to have a box with each television?
Anyone ? Bueller?

Definitely a swing-n-miss on my part. I thought your original post was literally asking "which is it", which I thought was just you being a dick, especially with Tim's pic pointing out they were the exact same size. Total misread, facepalm, etc. on my part.

Well that's how it works with MetroCast in Starkville. But that box is a bit bigger than the one shown above.

With myDirecTV you have to have a box with each television. And they charge you for each one past the first. But i don't have one of those newer 'continue watching from any room' systems they're advertising right now.

It's a encryption/decryption system, that keeps people from just freeloading. It's the way of the future, so get used to it.

Yes, you do have to have a box for every TV. And DirecTV will charge you a rental fee for each one.

So, unless you are one of those people that rotates between Dish, DirecTV, Comcast, and Uverse every 6 months to take advantage of discount packages, you aren't going to avoid paying for them.
