Haven't been paying much attention...do we have a good team? good coaching staff? anything?...or was it that we played a turrible team? On a side note, how bout the coach at clem? They have a good team this year?

It was definitely a terrible team. Doesn't mean we aren't good, though. Time will tell.

We destroyed a lowly ranked high school team from Massachusetts. Hit the brakes. Hard.

Need a larger sample serving for sure. Even over the tv tho, you could constantly hear Monte coaching every batter when they were at the plate. And I've heard several references from Kip and others saying that our batters were his batters. If that's the case, it has to be an improvement just by that change alone. And I gotta think a different set of eyes from an obviously vocal guy with the experience of Monte Lee is exactly what we needed. A coach coaching his butt off. All I can say is so far so good.

Tonight's game is the first step toward distancing ourselves from last season. We were done in by a lack of pitching depth last year and it showed most during the mid-week games. Winning the mid-week games will go a long way to prove that we have the pitching depth to compete.

Winthrop will be an upgrade in competition comparatively. Queens? No idea.

Our next series with UPenn will be more stout than Umass-Lowell. Ivy league, but they are a better baseball conference.

Only time will tell, but the start is encouraging. Barring another injury bug season, we definitely have more depth. We've got a nice combination of guys that came back, our still young and growing guys (like Brasswell), and some solid portal guys.

We'll see. I'm quite optimistic.

Queens was D2 last year if that tells you anything.

We need to see upper level Div. 1 competition.
You're right. Still an impressive start. 19 Homer's to lead the nation by far, and averaging over 15 runs a game through 4. Cautiously optimistic is the way I'm feeling to start this out. Penn should be a better look this weekend.

Call me a little concerned. Their first pitcher (upper level D1 like) gave us a bit of trouble. We got to do a much better job hitting a breaking ball from a guy who also has a mid 90s fastball.

One of these years I would like to see us participate in a round-robin deal like Vandy did in an SEC/Big XII challenge weekend to open the season.

Or schedule someone like Texas as we had done the past couple of years. How about Georgia Tech? Maybe during weekend 2? Russ Chandler Stadium is a 20-minute drive from my house.

I like those too if we can compete. Not any fun if we get clobbered. The Texas series last year was a highlight of the year for us and surprising. We took the last 2 of the 3 game series.
