And to think, just a few years ago we stuck a backup catcher (Marshall Gilbert)(who had never played the position) over at 3B just get his bat in the lineup.

I will say though that Slate Alford’s bat is coming around now. You can tell he is more comfortable at the plate. The defense though has been bad all season.

You have to start looking at it like the Gavin Collins rule. If he gives you more runs at the plate than he gives up at 3B, then it's a net positive for that game.
