with 10 of 12 teams playing in bowl games? Do we get more money for an SEC win than a loss?

In a nutshell, the SEC splits the money 13 ways with the largest share going to the teams who actually played in the bowl game. Doesn't matter if you win or lose, the bowl money is the same for each team

Does the league and 12 institutions all get a cut, hence the 13 way split? How can the bowl money be "the same" if the "biggest share going to the teams who actually played in the bowl game"?

the playing team gets more up front depending on the bowl payout. There was a thread on here not long ago that linked the SEC explanation. For example: IF the bowl payout is between 1 mil and 2 mil, the playing team gets 200k for travel and expenses then the remainder is split 13 ways. IF the payout is between 4 mil and 5 mil, the playing team gets 800k for travel and expenses. These numbers are made up, but I think you can get the point.
