Does Penn State Football finally get its National Championship this upcoming season?

That's a huge deal. As of now, the sweet spot in the playoffs is positions 5-8 that will get you a home game against a lesser-ranked opponent. A 9-12 ranking puts you on the road, probably against a "better" team. I don't ever want to open the playoffs on the road against an SEC team.

A 1-4 ranking sounds nice, but it gets you a neutral site game against a team that will have already won their first playoff game.

Give me that opening round home game every time.

Hopefully we can get one of those coveted 5-8 seeds again this year. IIRC the playoff format contract expires after this season and I fully expect the format to be different in 2026. It would be pretty great to take advantage of the flaws in this current format for the only 2 seasons it will exist.

It is possible for the format to change this year also, but that requires a unanimous vote from the conferences so I don't see that happening. The ACC, Big 12 and G5 teams would have nothing to gain from changing the current seeding as their chances to get a top 4 seed or even a top 8 seed would decrease drastically.

Some might glean I'm an eternal optimist, so I definitely believe they will win it all. I never thought for a minute that Allar, Singelton and Allen would come back. That solidified it for me.

10-2 would be a good result again this year unless we get an impact LB, WR, and DT in the portal. That might get us into the playoff again but we'd have to stay healthy and have a lot of momentum.

There are only 2 guaranteed losses + perhaps a 3rd in the big championship game so if they draw powder puff playoff teams like last year I see no reason they can’t make the final 4
