I wouldn’t read much onto this game. Based on Tom’s earlier posts, the Eagles played one defensive starter tonight against Dallas’ first string offense. The Eagles may not have won straight up, but projecting this win as momentum for a playoff run is fool’s gold.
How so? Siriani chose to rest his starters most likely because the team had a remote chance to improve their seeding and he didn’t want to risk injury. The Cowboys have a remote chance to improve their seeding but McCarthy played to win. As one of the other posters pointed out, the Cowboys were missing several key starters too. Find it ironic how many posters refer to the Cowboys as Cowgirls yet they played to win injury be damned while the Eagles bailed to avoid the risk of injury. You may be right that thinking last night’s win was more momentum for the playoffs is Fool’s Gold. However, I submit that thinking you can simply turn a switch and win playoff games after an *** beating like last night is equally foolish

I am not putting any benefit behind Siriani’s decision and I agree that playing to win is the best approach.

My point is that Eagles punched way above their weight to make the playoffs. They just aren’t a very good team yet. They hopefully will be in time.

It doesn’t matter if the Cowboys had several starters out too. It was never going to be a barometer for whether Dallas can compete with Green Bay, LA or Tampa.

The Eagles resting 15 or so starters made it even less of one.

I give the Eagles credit for turning their season around and making the playoffs. Having said that I think you should play to win. Cowboys and Eagles both had remote chances to improve their playoff seeding and one team played to win and the other didn’t. We will see soon enough which approach worked. Last I checked the Packers who have absolutely nothing to play for were playing Rodgers who has been playing with a broken toe today.

The Jaguars did the Eagles a big favor today. We won’t know until late tomorrow, but the Colts losing likely bumped that Indy 1st round pick up 3-4 spots into the mid-teens.

Wentz wasn’t good today. The loss wasn’t squarely on him, but you expect your franchise QB to be better against the league’s worst team with the playoffs on the line.

Is there a world where Frank Reich finds himself on the hot seat?

Maybe but not for long I’d say.
