If we win out especially in convincing fashion, we have a great chance at making it.

Probably a 12 seed, going on road to 5 seed which would be the runner up in SEC or Big10. Road game at Tennessee or Ohio State??? Bring it on!!!!!

Its hard not to dream. Our defense and run game on the road in the cold at #5 Oregon or #5 Ohio State….we could win
Oh I know with our defense we could win against anyone at anytime. The problem is giving hope that we would make the playoff in the first place. I suppose it depends on what the committee values more, resume or eye test. If we win out I think it’s a tough argument to say there are 12 teams better than us. On the other hand, it’ll be tough sledding to make it with 3 losses if it’s based more on resume.

Right now, our defense is the ''darling'' of CFB and is being recognized as ''fun to watch''.
That means eyes on the television which might give us an edge.

Also, all of America saw the robbing we suffered vs LSU so they could almost see us as a 2 loss team more than a 3 loss, if they’re looking for a reason to put the “fun” entertaining SEC team in

Just for fun, lets say we make it, 9-3, #12 seed. Who do we face at #5 on the road? I think its probably Oregon, i think OSU beats them in the B10 championship but w only 1 loss they get the 5 spot.

Our defense and running game, in the cold at Oregon, that could be a winner

Winning out won't be enough, with just 2 games left in most schools season, a lot, and I mean a whole lot of craziness would have to happen.
Three loss teams are fighting an uphill battle.

That would probably mean I would have to hope Clemson wins all their games until our game then maybe just maybe we have a chance of making the playoffs. No thanks. I'll hope clemson loses every game they play the rest of the year. That is a done deal.

Yes we need Clemson and Missouri to win the rest. All our opponents need to finish strong

We need some Big10 losses. Ohio State losing a second game, then Oregon beating them again, but especially we need Indiana to lose games

If the ACC and Big12 both only got 1 in, and G5 of course gets 1, that leaves 9 spots for SEC and Big10. The SEC getting a 5th is probably our only shot.

So as for the ACC, we need SMU vs Miami and an SMU win. That probably means only 1 ACC team, assuming we give Clemson loss #3.

Big12 shaping up as BYU vs Colorado. They arent leaving Deion out, even with a BYU win, unless they have 4 losses. So we either need a 11–2 Colorado Big12 champ, or Colorado loses another reg season game and BYU beats em in championship game. A 10-3 Colorado, who loses to Big12 champion BYU, both get in

So go SMU!!! Go Colorados opponents!! Go Indianas opponents!!!

**EDIT: Swap SMU for Miami. Didnt see SMU has 1 loss already. A 2 loss Miami could still get in off name brand. A 2 loss SMU wont. We need Miami to win out

I have never in my life hoped Clemson wins a game and I'm not about to start now. Now if it was 100% certain we would make the playoff if they do and 100% chance we dont if they lose then I may have to suck it up and silently hope they beat somebody. But to just have a chance to be in the playoffs? Not a chance in the world I pull for them. Aint gonna happen. We just have to do better next time.

I was hopeful until another poster on another thread pointed out who’s in front of us and the teams they have left to play. It will take some massive upsets for us to jump those teams.

Yeah.

Asking for frustration, imo, to start dreaming of playoffs.

It’s not the cold that worries me. It’s traveling across the country. NFL teams can’t do that well. So much so that a lot of people pay attention to it when it comes to fantasy.

Might as well give that up. Indy plays OSU next, A win, a close game and they don't move. Would have be a blowout to get them out of the Top 12.
Next up will be Purdue, and they are terrible. Indy has a very high percentage of being in.

First of all, Beamer has proven to me that he can coach well enough to beat more talented teams (Oklahoma and Texas A&M). That's VERY important because historically, we have not been able to recruit as well as the big-time programs, and probably never will. In my view, he has definitely earned an extension.

Will we make the playoffs if we win out? I would not bet on that. BUT, IF we can blow out our 2 remaining nationally-ranked opponents (Missouri and Clemson), we'd have a legitimate chance if lots of weight is placed on how teams finish.

Personally, making the playoffs should always be our goal because we can. We would have 2 times when Spurrier was here if a 12-team playoff was in effect.

Even if we don't make it this year (and we are a long shot, imho), running the table would set us up well for next season.

It will be imperative that Beamer recruit in the Portal as well as he did in Years One and Three to take advantage of such a set up.
