12 isn’t bad. They‘re in the mix. Franklin recruits well but he seems to have stepped up his game even more recently. The new rule changes don’t seem to be hurting PSU. They might be helping. He’s really recruiting well right now. Got to give him props for it.

ESPN slobbering all over Texas (lots of predictions for them in the playoff), am I missing something about their roster?

I’m assuming they think Oklahoma takes a big step back this year after Lincoln Riley left (with player transfers out of the program). Problem is that Texas wasn’t just held back by Oklahoma. They lost to just about everyone in conference last year.

The preseason ratings are compiled using four factors: prior performance, returning starters, recruiting rankings and coaching tenure.

Using those four factors, Pitt at #9 sort of hurts the ranking credibility. Apparently they think Dooz being there seven or eight years means he's a good coach but his prior performance has been average. He's about the best Pitt can expect since anyone else would leave at the first hint of real success. Dooz knows nobody is going to hire him away so he has to feel good about being average and having a secure job. I don't know about returning starters but I do know Pitt's recruiting isn't stellar which makes sense considering their coach is a dumbass.

I'm guessing more weight was given to prior performance which they define as only the past season. With Pickett gone, Dooz will have them returning to five-loss form in 2022.

Pitt at 9 is a laugh but unless Clifford and the OL make big strides so is PSU at 12

pitt's decent record last year is totally a product of a cupcake schedule. They didn't beat a single team ranked in the top 25. They play another cupcake schedule this year. If we played their regular season schedule last year, we would likely have been undefeated. If the pitters played our schedule last year they would have been lucky to get 4 wins. pitt is all about thumping their chest after playing a MAC level schedule.
