EVERY playoff team has players opting out. PSU has the second fewest. Culture.

I am only counting scholarship players.

There will be 1000-2000 players in the portal and Lealand thinks they are all from PSU.

According to On3 there are 2900 players, and Lealand is correct - they are all from PSU.

It's not how many players are in the portal that matters in this context, it's how many are in the portal AND abandoning their team in the playoffs! Do you know?

You need to be more precise in your language. "Entering the portal" and "opting out" are two different things. Try not to mislead, please.

I’ll say it’s not the number that counts, it’s the individual.

We need a new league. Not just the SEC & BiG because they have weaker teams. Just the 40 or so most powerful teams. Players would have a collective bargaining agreement. There would be a draft and players would sign 3 or 4 year contracts. Forget the school part. Players who actually play for a scholarship at smaller schools could enter the draft in subsequent years.

Looking at all teams. Very few under 5 portal players .

Is having a football culture a good thing now?

Roster needs to shrink considerably by next August, for every one we add we need someone to go, plus normal attrition
Rosters expand to 105 scholarships next year.

(Yes, will have to cut loose the non-scholarship guys, of course)

and we have well beyond that if you count everyone. 123 on current roster counting everyone, 27 new recruits plus Hudson = 151. Only counted 23 at senior day and 3 in the portal so thats 125, still need to get rid of 20 plus whoever we pick up from the portal. Thats going to mean more than just the scout team walks on are let go.

Are they all actually opting out of the games or are some simply announcing they will play but put their name in the portal after their season is complete for their respective teams as is the case with SMUs backup QB?
