The man passed 13 years ago, and he should have been honored. But, they villified him to escape any culpability, and then used the NCAA as a means to shield themselves from the public.

F the NCAA. F Emmert. F. Them. ALL.

Very well stated.... Many of us will flip the middle finger to the OGBOT... Supposed leaders and when PSU needed them most they stuck their heads in the sand and all became about self preservation. Disgusting ... business schools should put their names in lectures and books as an example of how not to manage a crisis. To think those chowderheads were running large corporations and on many boards makes me scared to think how they manage those companies.

The people today do not understand what it was like to be a Penn State fan in the late sixties and early seventies. You knew you were part of something special. Things were being done for a reason and to support the correct way of living. You could be proud of the performance on and off the field. Fans of other teams knew that, and hated us for it. Being on campus then you would be influenced by what was going on with the football team. Paterno did things right, and when a player chose to ignore that he did not play, even if he was outstanding. There was Joe's way and there was the highway. A great man and an example for us all.

Not only did they scapegoat Joe for absolutely nothing - they allowed the fanbase to be called cultists. They allowed the media to portray us as deranged lunatics who were okay with child molestation if we won.
I will never, ever forget having to sit through those f&ing lectures on the big screens at games educating the fans if you see something say something. I thought it was humiliating for this great fanbase. And the whole prayer thing with Nebraska. What an absolute joke. This university should get down on their knees and apologize to this fanbase and the Paterno family.

We have this above ... and then below that, people wondering, in bewilderment, how they could be described as being in a cult.

MSU & OSU had scandals but their respective boards defended those universities and fared much better. PSU's board hoped to blame it on Joe, C, S, & S to shield themselves.

We see it ignored every day in so many aspects of our lives (political, business, sports, entertainment) yet what many of us were taught as youngsters still is almost always the best decision --- do the RIGHT thing.

Exactly.... anything to keep the light off lubert, surma, frazier et al.... let everyone including alumni burn at the stake so they could keep their cushy board positions on fortune 500 companies and not be associated with Joe, curley, spanier or schultz or the 3rd mile.

Yeah, but they're only throwing Barry under the bus.
And they tried to be cute and treat Anthony Lubrano similarly. However, I think AL has them a bit puckered given where he filed suit.

In a just world, AL prevails and Barry petitions for a change of venue. Even then, I'm not certain that PSU will alter their behavior.
