EUGENE- On a blustery cold evening in Autzen Stadium, the #5 seed Oregon Ducks suffered a home field loss to the upstart #12 seed South Carolina Gamecocks. The SEC long shot needed some help to make the 12-team playoff, but got it in the form of Ohio State winning the Big10, BYU winning the Big12, and rival Clemson winning the ACC, not to mention Indianas shocking loss to rival Purdue.

In an odd quirk of roster building and style, the Gamecocks were uniquely built for a December cold weather game, as their powerful running game and dominant defense squeezed the Ducks for 4 quarters on the way to a 14-10 win. QB Lanorris Sellers repeatedly ran for tough yards to extend drives, capped by 2 TD runs by Rocket Sanders. The South Carolina defense, as it has done all season, swarmed Oregons offense, tallying 5 sacks, 8 TFLs, and an interception inside the Oregon 10 yard line to set up a score.

The win improves the Gamecocks record to 10-3, gives them their first ever playoff appearance and win, and moves them to the second round, where they will face the ACC champion Clemson Tigers.

And that, folks, is where we get win #11, and make it to the Football Final Four along with Texas, Tennessee and Ohio State.

FYI i wrote this bc we are ranked above LSU, which shocked me. Same record, head to head loss, but we are ahead. They are taking trajectory into consideration. If thats their standard, and Tennessee beats Georgia (I think they will)…..Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee are in. Alabama is in. A&M would have 3 losses (assuming Texas beats em) and we blew them out. A 5th SEC team would be us at the 12 seed

ACC - Clemson
Big 12 - BYU
G5 - Boisie
Big10 - OSU, Oregon, Indiana, PSU
SEC - TX, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Bama

Those seem to be locked in. The 12 team toss ups are South Carolina, Notre Dame, SMU, Miami in my opinion

I think Georgia is going to crush Tennessee. Iamaleava got hurt Saturday and his status is unclear for this weekend. Night game in Sanford? This is going to be Tennessee's toughest test of the season against a Georgia team with its back against the wall.

Anyway, definitely a fun scenario to think about. If we can beat Missouri, this conversation gets a lot more interesting with only Clemson left as a real opponent.

Sure does. Beating Missouri probably gets us ranked around 15-16 with 2 weeks of football left to play, as well as conference championship games, so we will have to hope for some other teams to lose.

And it hinges on Tennessee beating Georgia which is a huge IF, but I just feel in my gut thats gonna happen. Tennessee has maybe the best defense in America and UGAs offense is in a funk. Athens crowd noise wont affect UTs defense.

We also need Clemson to win the ACC to give us that resume boost.
