Favre or a JUCO QB that's not Newton?

I'm not a huge Favre fan but here's how he did yesterday:

Favre was 22-30 for 260yards 1TD and 1INT in the MS North/South All-Star game yesterday. His team held on to win 24-17 after jumping out to a 24-3 lead. I read he had a descent game on the ground as well.

we have just Relf and Stegall? Relf a good runner but not so much passing. Stegall an unknown. We need some kind of insurance policy or option if we can't get Newton, Mason or Brunetti.

yes. Farve or a Junior College qb no. I havent really looked at the juco guy so he may be alright, but as far as Favre goes, unless he grows about 6 inches before next season i dont even want him on the roster. i'm sorry the kid may be great but tell Dylan to call up tyson lee and thank him for that.

Why do idiots continue to think signing a JUCO QB or a HS QB is an either/or option for us? We have to sign both. The JUCO QB isn't really a part of this recruiting class from a class and position standpoint. He's to replace the QB Crxxm failed to sign a couple of years ago.

we have the dumbest fans in America, bar none. After reading the recruiting and basketball posts on here the last 2 weeks, I'm more convinced than ever of that fact.

Lee didn't suck because he's short. He sucked because he sucks. I'm telling you people, Favre will be a pretty good QB no matter where he goes.

Give me a JUCO QB for right now. Start Russell and have the JUCO backup along with Stegall and Relf. The big QB year should be next year once Russell has separated himself from the recruiting class by two years. Get a phenom HS QB at that time.

...I saw the little guy in the North/South game on TV yesterday.

He seems a perfect fit for Delta State Or Mississippi College.

It's amazing how this board made constant fun of Lee's height, yet most people are still willing to sign a hobbit because his last name is "Favre."

Having said that, I like the two QB's on campus right now (Russell & Relf). They are both the correct size for a SEC QB & both have enough talent to win games.

I don't like the idea of a JUCO QB coming in for 2 years. He'll just disrupt the development of Russell & Relf. And I know this board has a big man crush on Newton, but that guy is going to be poison to any locker room he walks into.

But I also don't want to see another Frodo Baggins up under our center.

QB for St. Stanislaus ain't exactly the SEC. He is obviously a good QB, but not SEC calibre..he ain't tall enough. It's been proven time and time again with few exceptions. Right now, I can't think of ANY exceptions in the SEC in recent history.

Also according to scout.com, his only offers so far are from Northwestern State & Southern Miss.

This board used to give Croom hell for recruiting players with these identical credentials.
I've been told he's a solid 5'11" not in cletes...Lee was about 5'9". Theres a big difference between Lee and Favre. Just because he gets on the team doesn't mean he's going to play. IF we don't get Newton, I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him and seeing how he does. If he can't do **** in practice then tell him he should transfer. Simple as that. Just bc he commits, doesn't mean he'll ever see the field.

In fact, I don't like his uncle and my predisposition before I saw him play was to say he wasn't that good and was just a product of playing in a terrible district with no real opposition. After seeing him play though, I think he's a good player. Everybody talks about how short he is, but he's only 1 inch shorter than Drew Brees. If a player can play, he can play, regardless of his height.

Miss College would be his best choice. Of course, because of his last name, he thinks he's a big time division I QB. Sorry little Favre, it ain't gonna happen.

over Farve. I'm sorry but I don't see why some of you love this kid so much. If he didn't want to come to state so bad I don't some of you would care if we signed him or not. Id rather have someone with experience come in to help Russel out with we don't get Newton. The simple fact that Juco kid has played against better compition, has more experience at a high level, and is over 6 feet tall are all way I say we need Vye instead Farve.

I went to the North/South game yesterday and went on the field after the game. Favre is a solid 5-11, obviously a little taller than that in cleats, definitely not under that. I'm pretty sure he doesn't think he's D1 because of his name. He probably thinks it because of his confidence in his ability. Add to that fact that he's put the passing records well out of reach for anyone in the near future (9 MS records) and one national record (81 TD's in a season), led his team to a state title over a favored opponent with some future college athletes and is the MS Gatorade POTY and Mr. Football. Not a bad resume.

Earlier poster said it correctly...TLee sucked because he sucked, not because he was short. If Tyson was 6-4, he would have still sucked. In the All-Star game yesterday, Favre had no trouble throwing over 6-3 and 6-4 linemen and clearly made his team better. Favre is a QB and more importantly a winner. We've made bigger reaches at MSU before. I'd definitely be glad to see him in the maroon & white.

But didn't I read on here that he is adopted?
Yes, you did read that on here and it/isn't true.

He addressed it in an article a while back. His dad, Jeff, is his dad and is Brett's brother. His parents were not married when he was concieved. His last name was Doyle, his mother's maiden name until a name change nine years ago. So, to answer the question that was on the board, he is a Favre by blood.

and crooms, most negativity directed at walrus was for his lack of recruiting...moreso than his "recruiting"

Rushed for 1200+yds and 18 more TDs. What is that 81 tds in a season. Before you comment, no one else in MS has ever done it and 4A in MS has some good competition. He also averaged over 40 yds a punt and played safety. You sign him, you might get a 3rd string QB, a backup punter, a reserve DB, and/or a special teams dynamo. That would be a better use of a scholarship than a countless number we have wasted in the past.

In addition, you get a chance at positive publicity. We are Mississippi State and do not have any tradition of good QBs.

By the way, a lot of people mention Bruneti. He is listed at 6'0". Wow, a giant there!

and 191lbs. I don't know if Mullen will end up offering him or not, if he does... fine with me. If not, fine too.

yea peeps get over it, he is on our list of QBs, if we get him it's because Mullen and his staff wanted him...and there were a lot of things that Lee did wrong as a QB, it wasn't just his height. I think the kid will be better than Lee ever thought about being.
