I have a pretty open mind when it comes to music. The only music I don't really like is Country, I will listen to it but just could never really get into it. Yes there is some new good music that comes out but getting people exposed to it seems to be a problem now that everyone just downloads the stuff they always listen to or the old heads rely on Pandora to play things like the Rolling Stones. I listen to XPN out of Philly via streaming daily and they turned me on to a lot of good new music. I really enjoy Cosmic Guilt, She She She, Wet Leg, Hosier, Brandi Carlisle, etc.
+1. There is a fantastic station here in the Bmore area called WTMD, they play pretty much everything, its also available to stream. Its where I hear a lot of new artists and music. Also most streaming packages and cable services offer an "alternative" and "adult alternative" stream that are an excellent source of new music.
Bottom line is don't depend on the Grammy's or any other "award" show to turn you on to new music...or even good music.

I just don't agree with that. There is a lot of really good music out there.

I think the big difference is popular music used to be ‘of an era’ - for example, pretty easy to pick it songs released in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s or 90’s. After that it gets extremely homogenous. There is still good music being made today, but it’s tougher to find though more accessible thanks to the internet.

lol. I was thinking that last night as they are having a Willie turns 90 tribute. So he was 44 when electric horseman came out and he looked so old then.

I saw Willie last month at the Rock HOF induction ceremony at age 90. He could still play guitar and sing, but they brought him on and off the stage when the lights were out and seated him on a chair. Old guy has 100 studio albums to his credit!

Big agree. Midnighter nailed it. There is great music being made, but stuff that sounds like "rock" music is considered alternative these days. You won't hear it on commercials, pop radio, etc. For example if a band like Nirvana formed today, it's likely that most people would never hear them. In order to get exposed, you have to seek it out on formats like Youtube, Spotify, etc.

And for those that dig 60's rock, there are a ton of bands that are keeping this sound alive (Wand, Ty Segall, Sean Lennon, The Mystery Lights, the Nude Party, etc).
