Unfortunately, it's a really complex issue with no easy solutions (well, no easy solutions if you're worried about the trans-community). I agree that there appears to be a competitive advantage so it's really complex when it's taking away opportunities from others such as a college scholarship...at the same time, it really unfortunate for the trans youth that is shunned from playing youth sports and/or experiencing all that others can experience in life, especially when it's a group that's already dealing with high risks of suicide, isolation, etc.
Trans youth?

I'm all for law abiding citizens living their lives as they see fit. Gay? More power to you. Transvestite? Go for it. And if someone feels trapped in the wrong body, they should be able to find their own way to lead their best life as long as it doesn't affect someone else's freedom to live their own lives as they see fit. But biological males competing in female sports does exactly that. It deprives biological females of the opportunity for fair competition.
Common sense. What makes this do difficult. Hopefully now, we can get back on track.

“Appears” to be competing advantage?

Do you realize that a middling high school boys team could beat the NCAA Champ
Women’s team?

As a father of an NCAA women’s athlete, keep men away from women’s…it is highly dangerous and could even be deadly (depending on the sport).

Common sense.

Actually you are not too far off

Research has determined there may be a total of 100 trans athletes in college sports. That accounts for less than 0.02% (roughly) of all NCAA athletes across the different divisions.

This whole thing is a colossal waste of time and energy not just by the NCAA but by legislators and others who have taken an infinitesimally small issue and exploded it into a crisis that... really doesn't exist.
100 men can do a lot of damage in female sports. And tip the competitive field of play.

If you had a daughter and she got incapacitated by one if these folks, you would feel MUCH differently.

Oh, I know mental illness exists

This is an important point. We absolutely should not stigmatize mental illness. No one who has it chose it, and would do anything not to have it. But the answer to mental illness is not to pretend it isn't mental illness, and that everyone else must pretend it isn't.

My father in law thinks he's worked for the CIA his entire life. He's a paranoid schizophrenic. Should we just say that he has in fact done the things he thinks, he is that, and should be commemorated as such? Of course not.

It’s just a way to use fear and hate to create an emotional wedge issue. Look at how many people get hysterical over such a minuscule issue.
