The only thing in that paragraph a woman cannot do is be male. The key elements of Bond's persona are that he is male, caucasian, British, a loner, drinks too much, and is relatively capable of a number of skills from flying a plane to always being in shape to run down the bad guys while wearing a top notch suit. Plus he beds women.
What's "key" about Bond being Caucasian?Bond was never going to be a woman. A woman got the 007 designation in the last film, because Bond "retired" (or some such thing).

He is an exxagerated version of Sir Ian Fleming.
And he always should be.
“Reilly, Ace of Spies?” I saw that back in 1983, still remember it.
At least it's not a woman like was rumored for awhile.... may sound chauvinist but I like sticking to the original books and story line . I am fine having a female type of James Bond but not anything really remotely close to the Bond character or name. Think they could do better for the next Bond than Aaron Taylor but I will still give it a chance with him.
Doubtful. Is this Reilly guy any relation to our former secretary?
Issue for me with Johnson (who is an impressive physical actor) is he's too boyish. My personal vote was for Tom Hardy, but he's probably too short for the role. Happy to give Johnson a chance, but Elba I think would have been inspired casting.
Uh noIs this Reilly guy any relation to our former secretary?
