Damn. Loved Ricky. Best baseball card I ever had was his 1980 Topps Rookie card.

Agree, nothing fake about Rickey. But he could drive you crazy. Remember his ostentatious home-run trot? One time he started his home run trot and the ball stayed in the park. He kept up the trot until he got to second base, where the second baseman had been waiting with the ball for five full seconds. Basically his excuse was “Rickey gotta Rickey.”He’s the type of guy/player I typically don't like. Difference in his case is that everything about him seemed completely authentic and because of that, I loved watching him play. Sad to see this.
Yes, Rickey got a hell of a lot of bases on balls. You walk Henderson in the first inning and that’s equivalent to a double.Greatest lead off hitter , base stealer , and styled and profiled better than Ric Flair .

He will forever hold that record. Current active steals leader is at 354, 1050 behind Rickey. The man perfected the art of stealing second and third base. I think he still holds the record.
RIP Ricky Henderson
Ricky being RickySad to hear, but so many funny clips came out of that man’s mouth.
One of my favorites goes something like this, atone of his games, a man had a sign in the stadium stating John 3:16. Ricky went over to the man and said who cares about John hitting 316, Ricky hitting 325.
Love that he always referred to himself in the third person.
