So are kids in "college" supposed to still actually be taking classes - and what if they can't handle those classes? Do they get kicked off the team and/or lose their NIL dollars if they don't maintain passing grades?āCollegeā Football
Just enjoyed Middletown at APPO Friday nite, for free. Game ended with a pick at the one. APPO #69 is a State signee. Look for the HS action, itās awesomeMy season tickets may be done. Itās not college anymore
Speaking as a faculty member at a university, what kind of pressure will be applied to faculty members to keep a high NIL player eligible? So are kids in "college" supposed to still actually be taking classes - and what if they can't handle those classes? Probably in proportion to how good they are, and if you're at a major D1, many of those players will be making many multiples of what you're making.Speaking as a faculty member at a university, what kind of pressure will be applied to faculty members to keep a high NIL player eligible?
Interesting you bring this up. I had to dump my tickets to the OSU game and watch it on TV. I was compelled to watch all of the pregame hoopla. Those at the game may have not known that all-everything Colorado Buff Travis Hunter was in attendance, live at the Beav. Both pregame shows interviewed him live and I happened to catch both. One of them, I think ESPN, asked him to walk them through a typical day in the life of Travis Hunter. He started at 5AM and talked them through the day. Not once did he mention class or school work.So are kids in "college" supposed to still actually be taking classes - and what if they can't handle those classes? I will add to my lawyer prognostication that this is all going to end in a bad way. Give a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds removed from home discretionary cash and then count the days until there are numerous allegations of drug purchases, gambling, prostitution and the like. Money always finds a way.
If a player commits a personal foul in the NFL, there could be a financial penalty (executed by the NFL onto the player)
Can similar types of financial penalties that may be imposed upon players who commit similar fouls in college football? Say.....Jaylen Reed takes his helmet off to celebrate an interception for a touchdown.....can PSU issue a financial penalty?
How can universities give NIL contracts? I thought NIL was separate from the university.
And what happens if a university goes over the $21 million salary cap? What's the penalty? Or can they go over if they pay a luxury tax like in baseball?
Iām bros with a Deloitte partner, Iāll ask him if heās moving from medical to nil. SO FUNUntil there is player input/agreement in the form of a union that can collectively bargain, this just creates more issues IMO. Right now the schools are going to try to police NIL deals via Deloitte, who will determine if a deal is valid/fair and if not, will direct the player to end it. Good luck with that.

Oh there are so many improper influences based on NIL already that there is no mystery as to why coaches like Tony Bennett at UVA have left coaching. Just imagine what a school's largest NIL donor can do to influence redshirting and roster management, playing time, recruiting, assistant coach hirings and firings, etc. If you think this is not going on, consider yourself naive.Speaking as a faculty member at a university, what kind of pressure will be applied to faculty members to keep a high NIL player eligible?
