Not confirmed from what I am reading elsewhere on the web. Some news sites have pulled their reports.
I was fortunate enough to see him play solo, as part of Crosby-Nash along with CSNY and CSN. Great voice.

Not surprising but very sad. He was the coolest; the drug dealer who could write genius songs. Would have been a gas to party with him back in the day.

Wow. That's a sad one. Several years ago I met him at the EWR Hilton and got a guided tour of his bus!!! All this at 4 am!!!!
BBC too. F*cking sucks getting old.
And gonna get worse. Remember my parents lamenting the deaths of musicians and celebrities when I was younger. Now it’s a daily thing for me.
Same here @ODShowtime. CSN and CSNY were one of all time favorite groups which I was fortunate enough to see live many times.
I came late so they're somewhat fresh to me. Spinning my moms copy of Four Way Street currently.

Nice bust out. This is an excellent album and there is a recent 2cd reissue out there now.
First Byrds song (and one of my favorites) written by Crosby.
And yet they will live on in their music. The music is a gift you can open, day after day, year after year. For me, at least, I can remember it like the very first time I heard it, and it still moves me.

I cannot believe David made it to 81,,, The man truly had nine lives! For all that he battled he was truly an inspiration. May he rest in peace...

I’m a bit younger, but I was pretty shaken when Joe Strummer and Bowie left us. I never did a sort of calculation in advance, but things just felt different for weeks after.
Bowie and Van Halen were very difficult for me. And Charlie and Dusty.

A lot of their songs are have become more relevant lately.
I hear you. I just turned 80 (worked at the Monterey Pop Festival and attended Woodstock), and it almost seems like we are losing one a week. It will be interesting, to me at least, to see if I outlive McCarthy, Starr, Jagger, or Richards. If it would all end in a nuclear holocaust my money is on Richards to be the lone survivor.
