Spotlight PA has spent the past 16 months documenting a potential pattern of improperly closed meetings by the Board of Trustees and its executive committee spanning more than a decade.

Back in 1983 when Walter Conti was Chairman of the Board, he told me that the most important job of the Board was to hire the next President of the University. Further, he said if you get that right the rest is just reviewing outstanding plans and approving them when requested. Our current BOT has screwed up the number one task three times now since 2011. The only recourse is to get the details in the open and allow those Trustees that actually care (think Barry and ?) to put controls in place.

Having a media watchdog to help open the doors is a good thing. It's a shame that the PA Legislature and Governor's office don't seem to care at all.
