RUCCI FILM STUDY

See Link. Unlike some of the stuff we do where coach purposely seeks out the positive, in this one he doesn't sugarcoat things, at all. Not saying he's overly negative here...just points out numerous troublepoints that all seem to stem from a lack of development (which is weird to say for a school with the oline history of Wisconsin). A lot for Trautwein to clean up yet obvious talent and gifts to work with.

this is alot better than what I thought we would see. Seems to move pretty well. Yes there is plenty to clean up, but if you watch the film, no the last pass play, look at the center, he is 10x worse. There is something there.

To summarize:
1. Whale size, but maybe too big.
2. Ridiculously strong, but relies on it too much over proper technique.
3. Run game mauler extraordinaire, but pass blocking is a problem and he will be targeted by the defense.

Looks like he needs reps. in order to bring it all together. Kind of reminds me of former PSU center/guard Matt Stankiewitch who was a liability until he got the reps and got to be an upper classmen.

Stank and a few others certainly came into their own as upperclassmen. I will say also, I think McWhorter was a very good OL coach under BO’B.

Mac is/was known as one of the best. In the history of PSU OL coaches. He’d be close to the top. Better than anyone CJF has had
Iirc Stank was AD at PSU Schuylkill campus

Maybe better than anyone PSU has had since Craig Cirbus. Dick Anderson, in his prime, was pretty good though.
But yea McWhorter was at the top of my list too.

If Nolan has poor fundamentals, why didn’t/ doesn’t his Dad teach him?

Something doesn’t make sense.
