PSU PASSING vs. ND FILM STUDY

See Link. Film speaks for itself...but Codutti did highlight some issues that haven't been message board talking points yet, and I was introduced to the phrase "And 1 Mixtape route," so that was interesting. A lot of the visuals here bring to focus many of the topics Tengwall touched upon in his "State of the WRs" podcast yesterday, which was a great watch.

Cliff notes: WRs.
Allar missed on some throws too because he still hasn’ t learned how to throw consistently. Singleton should have had a TD, he drifts out of the pocket when he feels pressure, he doesn’t set his feet. To me, he is too antsy in the pocket and still does not have the confidence to make throws. The last interception, if he stays in the pocket, the guard can make the block and Drew can run right up the middle for about 25 yards. He also had Singleton open for a little toss to the outside which could have been a huge gain. Our passing game needs a huge amount of work.

In that situation run the wideouts deep and hit either of the running backs for a 1-1 matchup in the wide open spaces.

A very safe play with very good potential yardage!

Yes. He tries to control it. Doesn’t set his back leg and use body to go through. So many passes in the orange bowl like this throwing with just arm. A golf tendency when you are nervous.

I do not want to get rid of CJF.....but why can Condutti see these problems so why can't CJF? It seems CJF has a vision of how he wants his team to play and refuses to adapt. I like Danny O'Brien but it seems PSU also needs a better QB coach.

Aller needs to work on simple fundamentals.

Step towards throw.
Don’t throw flat footed.
Absolutely, don’t throw while back pedaling.

If he works on those three things. You will see his accuracy improve. It ain’t rocket science.

I'm not saying he can't find spots to improve, but it's interesting to look at where his accuracy is at today...

Drew Allar in 2024 - 24 TDs, 8 INTs, 66.5%

Compare that to what most would say is the best QB performance in school history...

Kerry Collins in 1994 - 21 TDs, 7 INTs, 66.7%

One was throwing to Bobby Engram, Freddie Scott, and Kyle Brady. The other was throwing to Tyler Warren, Harrison Wallace, and Omari Evans. This tells me that a) Drew's ceiling is pretty darn high, and b) he had a better season that some are giving him credit for
