What's worse is every way too early poll I've seen so far has us outside of it. It's malarkey.

Is it that, once you make the playoffs, your ranking in the Top 4 is mandatory? Also. is the loser of the CG automatically ranked #2?

Probably. Similar to how the top 8 in the baseball poll is usually the 8 who made it to Omaha.
