I'm going with a designed run for Sellers. Good way to get rid of opening jitters for a young QB and channel some of that adrenaline. Pick up a few yards, take your first hits.

Other plays that got close consideration: a run straight up the middle by Sanders into wall of defenders for no gain or a pass behind the line of scrimmage for no gain/loss of yardage.

I believe it was under SOS we had to call a TO on the first play of the game once.
At Auburn in 2005. Granted that was Antonio Heffner’s first real action as Blake Mitchell got hurt. And if I recall, we ended up calling 2 timeouts in the first 3 plays. Heffner just wasn’t near ready to play that game and it showed as we were killed.

Ok, yeah, that's the one I guess. I was thinking it was a season opener.

Goodness, that was a miserable game.

Yep. I was there. It was a fun day until the game started 😂😂

Rice still caught a TD. Ran right up to me in the end zone.

I think we'll return the kickoff from about 3 yards deep to about the 19 yard line.

I wouldn't start with a QB run. More effective to set it up first. Also wouldn't want some amped up guy looking to make a play against an SEC team, full of piss and vinegar appear a leg or something like that. So much can be built off of a halfback dive, including PA, RPO, zone-read.

My call is a hand-off to Rocket Sanders. I look for Sellers to have limited rushing attempts against ODU and allow the RB's to lead the rushing attack. Let's not give Kentucky anything to prepare for.

I dunno...handoff to the RB seems too predictable to me. Everyone will be expecting that.

As to the latter, I'm not sure that strategy has ever worked for us...and I'm not ever sure it's ever been a strategy.

Wouldn’t mind starting with a play action, roll out pass to loosen up the defense. Gives Sellers a chance to run if no one is open or get a big play down field. Then work on establishing a run game with Sanders. We have got to run the ball better this year.
