If Penn State hosts a first-round playoff game, will Penn State set the ticket prices or will that be done by the NCAA? I would imagine season ticket holders with NLC points will get first opportunity to purchase tickets.
Several weeks ago, I sent an email to our illustratious staff at the NLC concerning distribution for the first round at Beaver Stadium. Would the selection be season ticket holders, point system, etc.NCAA. There was an article on athletic that said for a non suite/club ticket it would around $150-$250.
i would hope season ticket holders, I and others would have opportunity for their regular season seats. Think article said visitors would get the normal 5k allotment.
Well, it's likely that the NCAA hasn't told them yet. You should have seen the crazy kerfuffle regarding MLS Cup Final ticket. The league (a) held back tickets for the other team (top deck for the entire south end) and (b) had a sponsor code that leaked, resulting in a sellout before full season ticket holders could get seats. Mind you, MLS did fix that and there was a resale of seats, where we did get a ticket. But it was not our regular season ticket location. Couldn't have been because we are in what became the away fan area--but no one got them where their seats were.Several weeks ago, I sent an email to our illustratious staff at the NLC concerning distribution for the first round at Beaver Stadium. Responce...they would notify me.
Usual crap from NLC, the a$$e$e$ have no clue in planning in advance.
$250 per ticket really hearts, as i have already given $4,200 this year for my two seats.
Made me laugh. Thanks.Since they do such a stellar job of delegating the student tickets, I ‘m sure the playoff ticket distribution will be fantastic.
their team?Student section should fully remain the student section. It’s their team and they should have the opportunity to be there to support them….also student tickets should be at student ticket (cheap) pricing
I'd like to know to what extent the NCAA is involved since the FBS playoff isn't organized or sponsored by them. At most the NCAA should serve only in an advisory capacity since it has experience with the FCS playoffs.Well, it's likely that the NCAA hasn't told them yet. Great point. (NCAA & "advisory" in the same sentence! Ha!).I'd like to know to what extent the NCAA is involved since the FBS playoff isn't organized or sponsored by them. At most the NCAA should serve only in an advisory capacity since it has experience with the FCS playoffs.
Just to piggyback on my own post....I was wondering about payouts to teams, and this is what I found....
How much does a team get for making the College Football Playoff in 2024-2025?
With the new 12-team playoff comes a new revenue distribution model. For 2024-2025, here’s how much each team will make in the College Football Playoff:
Additionally, each team who participates in the College Football Playoff receives $3 million to cover expenses for each round.
- $4 million for each of the 12 teams that makes the College Football Playoff
- $4 million for each of the 8 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals
- $6 million for each of the 4 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Semifinals
- $6 million for each of the 2 teams that makes the College Football Playoff National Championship Game
Additionally, each conference receives $300,000 for each of its schools whose football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a postseason football game. Each independent institution also receives $300,000 if its football team meets the same standard.

I am going to respond, since Art is off the ice with a Game Misconduct....Great point. (NCAA & "advisory" in the same sentence! Ha!).
Speculation.... the host school has the ultimate decision, but the conferences - and maybe even the networks? - contribute to that in order to maximize revenue. I don't know, and would not be surprised either way, but I wonder if the conferences get a cut of the home team revenue? It is in everyone's interest to fill the stadiums, keep the season ticket holders happy, and max the revenue oppty. All 3 things are important, imo.
Personally, $250 per ticket for my seat is fair, imo. I get 4 tickets, so even if I have to sell 1 if only 3 of us can make it, I believe it would resell relatively easily. If I cannot get my same seats or parking, I will have an issue with that.

Yes. Their fellow classmates. For a very large % of students the opportunity to attend a game like this is limited to the time when they are a student. Students currently paying well over $30k to be a student. As a student, I always felt a connection to the student athletes I shared with in class and in housing. Those were the days when football players shared dorm space with the general student population.their team?

So, UGA has a plan for ticket distribution & PSU response to me...."we'll notify you"Someone posted this a week or so ago. It's from the UGA athletics site. BULLDOG CLUB
I'd think anyone playing a first round game would have something very similar.
CFP First Round Ticket Request Process
Home Playoff Game
If UGA hosts a CFP first round game, 2024 season ticket holders will have the first right to purchase their same seat locations for that game.
Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to either purchase all the seats on their account or decline tickets. For example, if a season ticket holder has four regular season tickets on their account, they will be required to purchase all four tickets for the home playoff game.
Once the season ticket holder request process is complete, any remaining inventory will be made available to Hartman Fund and Magill Society donors with access to purchase time windows determined by giving level.
Away Playoff Game
Due to the extremely small ticket allotment provided to the visiting team for the first round of the CFP, UGA will not have a donor request process for this situation.
We encourage all fans interested in attending to pursue tickets on the secondary market, such as our ticketing partner, SeatGeek.
The ncaa has nothing to do with the CFP. It is run by CFP which has no part of the ncaa.Well, it's likely that the NCAA hasn't told them yet. Only correct answer.CJF will set the prices and keep the money
Classes will be done and dorms will be closed. But PSU can't just rent out rooms from kids that already have all of their stuff in them. And the University isn't allowed to generate revenue and funnel it to NIL.Aren't classes already done by the time the playoff game would happen? That will create an interesting dynamic. I wonder how many students will return. Will the dorms already be closed? If the dorms are closed, why not rent out some empty rooms for the game to alleviate some of the hotel capacity restrictions and also allocate a portion of room rental costs to the NIL funds?
The point is that it's not Penn State that decides. The ncaa has nothing to do with the CFP. It is run by CFP which has no part of the ncaa.
Agree, and maybe offer them to the UP students and students who have been on campus longer than one semester first.Student section should fully remain the student section. It’s their team and they should have the opportunity to be there to support them….also student tickets should be at student ticket (cheap) pricing
The XM college sports guys were talking about this the other day. Gary Danielson believes that the playoff will expand to 16 teams fairly soon because the teams that are getting a first round bye in the current format are missing out on hosting a first round game and the revenue that comes with it. As we all know, money dictates everything.Just to piggyback on my own post....
So, a team can get upwards of $20MM should they make it to the CFP Final Plus $3MM per school for expenses for each round. So, that means PSU could get $4MM for the first round, and if they host, they get $3MM for not travellng (although there is some expense associated with keeping the team outside of campus). Or should I assume that it's prorated with a maximum of $3MM for expenses?
Move CCG to the stadium of the highest ranked team? The XM college sports guys were talking about this the other day. and if he doesn't get to keep the money he'll threaten to go to Florida or FSU.CJF will set the prices and keep the money
Does Beaver Stadium have adequate parking to equate to 107,000 seats?IIRC:
The "Playoff Group" keeps the ticket revenue (and distributes it as part of the payout to all of the teams/conferences)
The host school keeps the Parking/Concessions revenue (kind of like the deal for the music concert at Beaver Stadium last summer). The idea being - one would presume - that the parking/concessions $$$ would be more than the expenses incurred hosting the game (staffing and what not)
If that be the case, there is no incentive for the host school to have "high" ticket prices, it would actually be incentivized to lobby for low ticket prices to insure a full house - but rather to jack up parking/concessions revenue as much as possible.
1) I would assume pretty much in line with current set up. That said, if student ticket allocation is somewhat lower, that could increase parking demandDoes Beaver Stadium have adequate parking to equate to 107,000 seats?
Assumedly, the host schol does not get any money if the parking is done off property (whether that is feasible or not depends on the location of the stadium).
So, if I park downtown, and walk to the Stadium, I get a cheap ticket and don't have to pay exorbitant parking fees. (?)
Weather at that time of year could dictate the parking situation. If too much snow or wet and the fields aren't able to handle RVs and heavy car traffic, that impacts what they can and cannot do. As that comes up once in a while in-season every couple years or so, I presume they have those contingency plans already in place.Does Beaver Stadium have adequate parking to equate to 107,000 seats?

IIRC, in past years when the grass lots were closed, there was an agreement with some of the area shopping plazas to allow game parking there. Shuttles were used to get fans to the stadium. There may have been additional parking at the Centre Hall Grange as well since there was already a shuttle service operating for the RVs there.Weather at that time of year could dictate the parking situation. Yep, I recall using it for the Snow Bowl vs Michigan....
