The buyout money is insane, but that was on Texas A&M, and they can't get out of it now except to eat that money. But they certainly did NOT pay that money to win 45 games over 6 seasons, so the firing is well understood. They just have to eat it and move on......

They aren't like us in terms of self-image. Financially, from the athletic standpoint, not but a few people are in their league (you could count those schools on one hand). In terms of resolve, no one exceeds theirs. I applaud their sense of purpose.

They likely will be paying Fisher more, but if they find The Guy, they will do whatever it takes for money not to be an issue in keeping him - because they can pay the moon to more than one guy .

And I'll tell you something else. Had this prolonged buyout not been more favorable to Fisher from a taxation standpoint, they could have paid him in one lump sum if it were necessary. A few phone calls would have raised it all. We can't even fathom the resources at their disposal.

I couldn’t imagine spending $80m to fire a NC winning coach to hire Elko. Don’t get me wrong, he’s done a nice job. But I can’t imagine that going over well.

The amount of $$ they have left is directly dependent on how much they want to spend. It's literally not an issue. On the day they planned to fire Jimbo, the AD met the chairman of the 12th Man Foundation (A&M AD fundraising arm) on the 50 yard line at halftime to accept a $160M check. That was a message. Don't worry about the buyout, don't worry about the next contract. We got it covered. Unreal.
