For those of you interested, the Braves lost and the Cardinals won last night.

So now the Cardinals are only two games back from being tied for the wild card. <div>
</div><div>The Braves are off tonight and have two 3 game series against the Nationals (the 17ing RATS) and the Phillies (best team in baseball, I think). 6 games left.<div>
</div><div>The Cardinals have 4 games with the Cubs and 3 with the Astros... so 7 games in 7 nights. </div></div><div>
</div><div>If the Braves win 5 of the next 6 games, they clinch the Wildcard. The Cardinals have to win 6 of the next 7 while hoping the Braves lose at least 2 games between now and next week (which they more than likely will) against the cellar dwellers of the National League. </div><div>
</div><div>I think this is setting up to be another heartbreak for Atlanta fans. What say ye?</div>

But I would love to see the Braves choke. I think it will happen. The Cards are just playing too good right now, coupled with the Cubs and Astros coming up I don't see how they won't make the playoffs. Kimbrel and Venters just pitched way too much the first half, caught up with them.

And to answer Jack, I think the Braves are a choke job waiting to happen. They have too many losses against teams they should have beaten and the Cards live to play in the postseason. The Braves just can't get it done when they have to. I'd be surprised to see the Braves pull this out, but crazier has happened.

How about instead of bitching about the schedule, you take care of business.? Or do you just want to ignore the fact that Cardinals' push to try to get that WC spot started with a sweep of the Braves?? Let me guess, it's because of the injuries right?? Let's not forget that Pujols spent time on DL this year, Holliday has been on the DL twice, and one of the best 3 pitchers in baseball hasn't throw a pitch this year for us.? My thoughts can be summed by song below.? Atleast baseball has been fun to watch these past two weeks with the playoff spot chases...

Though i would sure bet against it.

They havethe bench and bullpen to do it. If they were smart, they'd start using some of the young starting pitchers back-to-back in games, so they'd quit losing games in the 6th and 7th innings. Plus, in do-or-die mode they can start using Venters and Kimbrel for 2 innings at a time. Might not matter as much if their arms are dead, but they won't lose games like they did to ya'll a few weeks ago, where they gave the ball to Linebrink when they could have kept Kimbrel in the game. But i would be mighty surprised to see flow-chart-Freddi do anything that intelligent. i guarantee you he'd start Lowe in Games 2 and 5.

They really shouldn't have a chance without Jurrjens or Hanson, but the ridiculous playoff schedule negates that somewhat. 10 off days for 3 series, and that's not counting if you win a round early! someone asked on here a few weeks ago how you could add a series to the playoffs and not play in november. well, eliminate those off days. you want an off day, then win your series early. that's always screwed the Braves and their historically deep rotations in the past, but this year may be karmic payback.

really, it's the WC. it's a favor to get into the playoffs when you can't win your division, and the Braves aren't even close to the Phillies.

And if the Braves win the next two series, then ya'll have to sweep. After the Braves lost series to the Marlins and Mets. They really don't have room to complain, buuuuuuuuuuutttt....

...none of that negates that a WC with a wildly unbalanced schedule is just dumb. and next year's schedule is even worse. different teams don't even play the same number of interleague games!

couldn't see/hear the song, but that's probably my work firewall.
