For those wondering about Cohen's buyout clause, I wonder if this is a hint...

From Greg Ellis' blog:

State will benefit financially too, as it will recover half of the $2.7 million bowl money it lost in 2004 that was put into an escrow account.

That if Cohen didnt contact any of his top ranked recruiting class and persuade them to follow him to Starkville then there would be no buyout.

buy Cohen out, there's some extra money that is coming back our way that could have made the buyout possible or at least a little less painful. But, since no one has made anything public about the buyout, the gentleman's agreement about not stealing current recruits carries a ton of weight.

that an agreement was made to get out of the buyout by letting Cohen go ahead and sign with state in order to give UK a head start on there coaching search, bc it was obvious that there was not going to be ground work started for a new UK stadium by July 1st.

should be able to succesfully argue that at the very least a substantial part of any buyout is null and void due to the lack of any progress on "breaking ground" on a new stadium.</p>

all we would have had to do was wait 3 weeks to make the hire official. Something tells me we are at least that smart.

Give UK a headstart on their coaching search? It took all of 10 seconds. They handed to the pitching coach.

from what Byrne said at the press conference. So, technically he hasn't been hired yet and if he doesn't sign till July 1st, then technically he wasn't hired till then, so bye bye buyout clause. Of course, I don't think that will be the case, because I think the buyout clause has already been dropped like some other posters have said.
