this stat from the Yahoo team report pretty much sums it up

State is 14-0 under coach Dan Mullen when winning the turnover battle. When it has tied or had a negative margin, it’s 2-13

It goes without saying that winning the turnover battle is crucial for just about any team, but that's incredible. For the correlation to be as overwhelmingly direct as that, that leads me to thinking that we are a very consistent team elsewhere in spite of how it seems at times.

we have to grind out drives.
on the road, we have to make it a boring game and keep them off the field

we want the ball in our offense's hand in critical areas of the game, no trust in our defense



...if Relf is banged up, I wouldn't mind going to a 2 qb system early just to see
but if you are going to call qb read-option with russell i just soon leave him on the bench.

I'd be fine with Relf not throwing a single pass over 7 yards. I think we can win all 4 but as you mentioned, we need to get back to putting ourselves in good 3rd down situations, eliminating the 3 and outs, and controlling the clock.

Our gameplan hopefully is built around Ballard and Relf running it 60 times. </p>

with ballard/bumphis/and perkins all in the back field or on the field... it is crazy to send relf on a qb power, why not direct snap it to our rb


we should have a whole package of ballard bumphis perkins in shotgun with split backs and option or qb read to whatever side there is less pressure

I would like to see what Jameon could do with a direct snap. I think he could be a key to much more offensive success. He has an impact when he is on the field. Wasn't he the scout team QB last year?

but i lean toward trusting bumphis more inside the 10... i realize lewis is a playmaker, but he is also a rs fr... i would like to see bumphis first


as fun as our offense is on ps3, it is so boring in real life... i want reverses and tricks in open space...
