While the course is under construction, it is a par 69. I looked forward to 18 because it was a beastly exclamation point to a round. I went into that hole many a time looking to finish off a strong round and shooting a 7 or 8 on that hole. That hole and current hole 7 are beasts.

From the tips you had to guide it thru a chute of trees and out far enough or to the right enough to get a good angle to the left for the dogleg second shot. And the raised green that was partly hidden by traps was an excellent design for a challenging approach.

It really was an awesome closing hole.

Same for me, I could par the hole or just blow it. A bad tee shot leaves me almost no chance for par because of the length of the hole (and the elevated green). I could never break par on that hole because for my 3rd shot, I'd always lay up instead of attacking the green (if I played a decent tee shot or second shot). Those traps were too much of adeterrent for me.

and the whole golf course is a construction zone with them adding the new practice facility. They are turning hole 10 into a Par 3. They are constructing the new 18 green right where the dogleg was on the old 18. Supposedly, 18 is going to be a par 4. They are moving the tee box back a little. The course is going to play to a par 70. They did all of this to extend the driving range down old 18 fairway and towards 10 fairway. (extending the range left is you are looking down the range).

I think its really a shame. Par 70's suck. That was a good finishing hole and 10 was a good risk/reward hole. But I guess they are making all the changes to attract better talent with the new practice facility.

I think the changes are well needed. I worked there for about 3 years and the practice facitlity was atrocious. One of the smallest practice tees Ive seen with not a lot of room at the end of the range. I dont know what they are doing to it because I havent been there in 3-4 years, but if their plan is to widen the practice tee near where 10 tee and18 green were and possibly push the tees back where the maintenance road was, then I think its a great move.

Nobody likes a par 70 because it usually means it is a short course with not a lot of space for length. This would actually be a beast of a par 70 course. #10 was always an easy birdie, you felt like you let one getaway if you made 4. If they shorten it to a par three by moving the tees up on the right hill to the right of the cart path, make it 160ish from the tips, you keep it as an decently easy hole, but will be far fewer birdies than normal.

The can push 18 tee back about 25 yards, make it parallel to 17 green. That will make the tee shot a little tougher coming out of the shoot. It can still be a beastly hole. They could either place the green just on the other side of the bend which could still make the hole play about 450-460 with a narrowtee shotor move it to the far right near the lake. It would drop the hole to about 420, but your approach could notbe right....and because of the added length from the tee, your tee shot will need to finish more left than usual, leading your approach shot hitting toward the lake.

Take away the easy birdie at 10 and all you really have is 11 and 17 as true birdie opportunies. The difficulty of 12,14, and 15 alone could really leave you depressed going into 18. I think its great.

10 tee is actually getting moved left of its current position. I believe they are going to build a pond/lake short of the green. Your tee shot would go left of the tree that is on the bend. I believe it was going to play 130-40 from the whites.

They are putting an indoor facility back towards the road very close to where the new 10 tee will be.

You are correct that 18 tee will be almost parallel with 17 green.

I agree that is will be very challenging par 70. I just like to see 4 par fives every round, primarily because it gives us amateurs more birdie opportunities.
