Viewership was pretty abysmal in 2023 (especially considering it was a primetime game), which is probably why we are relegated to Friday now:

The NFL was customarily massive -- and college basketball made a few waves as well -- on Thanksgiving Day.

…although, the article does say it was the highest viewership in six years for that game.
