Such an uninspired game. NW is terrible but they actually were the better team in the second half which isn’t saying much. What is it with Franklion in October/ November and bad weather? They just seem like they don’t want to be there.
If one has zero expectations, they will not be disappointed .

All I ever read on here is that Fitz is one of the best coaches in the Big and then we win against him, but not by enough, so we’re awful. I would think a coaching genius can keep a game close. If only "our" team could play a schedule against schools that don't have good coaches and scholarship players. "We deserve better,"
Bad weather can make skill irrelevantAll I ever read on here is that Fitz is one of the best coaches in the Big and then we win against him, but not by enough, so we’re awful. I would think a coaching genius can keep a game close.

and you know the difference how?Horrible game , this is D1 Not grade school
If you read this board for the next couple of days -it’s a loss this year too.Last year that game was a loss
And he’s lost to a MAC team and an FCS team this year. I agree he’s a good coach, but it shows even good coaches lose games they shouldn’t.Fitz is a good coach

It happens....LOL....If you could pre ordain every outcome....why in God's name would we actually pad up and play? And he’s lost to a MAC team and an FCS team this year. I agree he’s a good coach, but it shows even good coaches lose games they shouldn’t.
The weather tends to negate speed and skill.Seemed to me that Penn State played the game very conservatively, emphasizing the run, which under the circumstances was a good move considering the turnovers. Even with +2 turnovers, Northwestern couldn't do much of anything. Both defenses played "all out" and the PSU running backs seemed to get a bit tentative after the fumbles. It was just an odd game. I would've liked to see Penn State score another touchdown or two but the result would've been the same. Look at the stats and Penn State won this game handily.

IMO, had it been dry and sunny, this game would have been a blowout. The weather tends to negate speed and skill.
Cliff never looks to the flat first and then when he does, it’s too late and the defense gets there. Many times this season he does not go through progressions. He had Washington wide open and he was waving his hands and would have been an easy TD at Auburn. Same thing with one play with Lee yesterday, no one near him for an easy big gain, then Cliff throws to him and defenders are thereIMO, had it been dry and sunny, this game would have been a blowout.
That being said, when the passing game was utilized, most of the routes thrown to were medium to long. There was very little, if any utilization of short routes like to backs out in the flat or screens.
This board is no place for optimism. To a degree this is true, but the turnovers should not have happened to the degree which we saw yesterday. I was on the livid side at the end of the game, but putting things into better perspective now, it was an over reaction. I mean look at Georgia's performance over the last couple of weeks, or worse, how would we like to be Oklahoma right now, or even PItt. Those fans may have better reasons to be pissed than do we. I'm expecting a much better performance (win or not) in two weeks. The weather tends to negate speed and skill.
I can't imagine anyone trying to put lipstick on that pig(yesterday). I'm speaking from personal experience as a player.....losing to a winless team in a torrential downpour......and winning by a TD on the very last play from scrimmage ....over a team that finished 1-9 in a year we went 8-2 (coaching)......bad weather tends to make everyone equal. To a degree this is true, but the turnovers should not have happened to the degree which we saw yesterday. Even Fitz alluded to that prior to the game. I thought about that also, because I still have PTSD from the 1974 7-6 loss to Navy @ home in a torrential downpour. The Oldtimers on the board will remember that nightmare.I can't imagine anyone trying to put lipstick on that pig(yesterday). Even Taft was able to beat Bakersfield because of the downpour…and Reno Hightower, of course. The best damned QB who ever lived.I can't imagine anyone trying to put lipstick on that pig(yesterday).
