as we complete the 2022 recruiting season, we look to have great strength building at many positions, and the future looks very bright.

Offense = QB, RB look fantastic. OL really looks excellent, and would have shown that this year had it not been for most of the OL hurt. WR a lot of guys but not sure what we lack - size and or speed. TE off the charts great, even if 86 goes to the NFL. The only possible question is the WR group which may be better than we realize. Really like MY OC as he evolved this year.

Defense = DBs are great and deep, now LBs coming, edge rushers elite and a lot of DT's especially 3 Tech. Maybe a one hole is the 1 tech DT. Manny as DC also just outstanding, and all our position coaches are really good along with some analysts.

Special Teams = KO love that we are getting KOs through EZ so need new guy for that with Jake moving on. Punt - we have a 5* punter so hoping he comes through. FG kind of an unknown. Return guys - we have a ton of talent for that.

what is not to like about this team going forward? how do we stack up vs the BIG next year? 12-0? this may be the best team we have had under JF.

we certainly won't be horrible next year. I was encouraged by Manny's press conference not only that he committed to stay but that he seemed cognizant of the need to learn from the whipping we took at UM. That type of defeat is unacceptable and we need all of our coaches to earn their keep next year and figure out Plan B in order to be elite. We are that close despite what the subversive beat writers claim.

In other words, we’re screwed. 😞

I won’t say Corner is deep, King, Dixon are your starters Hardy is the slot/nickel that leaves Cam Miller. If Wilson returns for his Covid year that helps but I can see 2 from the portal being possible

HA - I still have my rose colored glasses from when I was voted the Most Optimistic member of my Senior Class back in high school in June, 1968.

They aren’t wearable anymore, Franklin’s stomped on them too many times! 😢

A portal addition looks like a good bet, butI could also see at least 1 true freshman CB earning playing time next season. Possibly Elliot Washington who some services list as a Safety but that I believe I read is headed for CB.

Unfortunately QB and RB room is thin. After Allar, who hasn’t proved anything, there is not much at QB and resembles 2021. Pribs and Smolik better have great spring practices.

At RB great with Thunder and Lightning but not much behind those two. Lee is competent but 2 FR behind him? Less a worry than at QB.

Have to agree... Penn State Football is definitely in a better situation than it was the past two years. How about some music?

Pray tell....in the portal era.....how many great RB's does one realistically hope to stockpile?

Unless this coaching staff figures out exactly what Harbaugh figured out at Michigan, then count of suboptimal 10-2 seasons and a New Years 6 at most.

Franklin also mentioned after the UM whipping that the PSU defense needs to get bigger and stronger. But then he is bringing in 2 more 220-230 LB DE's in the 2023 class, which it seems to me is the position that PSU does not field the size and strength that UM and oh-high-ya do. So I don't see how Manny can field a bigger/stronger defense in 2023 with the roster it looks like he will have. Maybe move Durant to DE?

Just need a positive surprise at 1 tech DT.

van den Berg, Izzard, or maybe this year's true frosh Artis who is listed at 6'4", 315 on the most recent roster.

Coziah Izzard really splashed this year from what I could tell. He was out for first 1/3 or 1/4 of the year for rumored doghouse reasons but when he did play I really liked what I saw. I don't know the actual reason he wasn't dressing for games but if he can stay out of the doghouse I think he can be really good next season.

Greg, you hit the nail on the head. He is not yet bringing in the beef on the D-Line side like he has on the O-line, Only Izzard thus far has the size and temperament on the interior D-Line. I have noticed since Poindexter has arrived our hatefulness, poise and tackling has elevated nicely. There are other big lads on the team but they have yet to elevate to the level to contend with MeatChicken. I am not following the D Line portal activity too closely so any updates from this board would be appreciated. We need the nasty beef on the D-Line and another 1-2 WRs who can take the top off the defenses this portal season to be a success next year. I do like the mass and attitude we are putting together on the O-Line. Fashanu and Tengwell are talented and nasty and should keep our prized RBs and QBs in a position to win games for us.

If PSU loses 2 by the 8th game next year.....will we insist that Allar is benched so we can give Beau experience for 2024?
I can't wait.
So hoping the boys lose twice to prove your point? Troll is now confirmed!

while also blaming Franklin for not getting Allar enough reps this year

of course if Allar plays well they will blame Franklin for not starting him all this year

look, what I am saying is, the safest course is just blame Franklin
