Is my 76 year old brain addled from playing high school football with a leather helmet or on October 7, 1967, did UCLA defeat Penn State 17-15 using illegal communication to their advantage. During the first half, UCLA quarterback, Gary Beban, who had an electronic speaker in his helmet, would rollout, and a UCLA spotter in the press box would tell him to pass or run. UCLA would score 17 in the first half. After halftime because a police officer had picked up the signal, the signal was jammed. UCLA did not score again.
