Spent the weekend in Williamsburg and had a great time at the game. Not an alum, just a lifetime PSU fan, though my dad graduated from WVU.

Im sure the majority of what I report has been covered, so pardon the redundancy.

1. Sat at the 40 in EF and could not help to notice how involved Gabe Infante was on the sidelines. Not with players mind you, just with coaches. Primarily Manny. The second half it was far less noticeable.

2. As has been stated, the run D was soft, and outside the secondary I was was kinda unimpressed. I know Carter has the potential, but I did not see it in this game. Did see and watched Rojas late in the game and he moves real well.

3. Kalen King is a player, much like number 6 from WVU.

4. Not sure about the wideouts after this game, although Cephas and McLain will help.

Well, that’s about it. Now on to Delaware!

Not sure about the wideouts? I thought they were a strength. A couple of drops, yes, but KLS looked awesome and Wallace looked really good as well. McClain and Clifford had some key catches as well. I think we’re good there.

I like your confidence. But I just don’t see The Guy. I see a bunch of good players, no great ones, yet 😁. And I think KLS had a drop on a slant if I remember correctl.

Funny you mentioned Carter’s potential…a friend of mine mentioned several times during the game that Carter was playing like he had read all of his press clippings over the off-season.

So looks like you can’t double team one guy and the others will do nothing. Allar’s arm and the variety on the WR and TE room should have defenses concerned. WVU played Cover 0 & Allar still threw for over 300 yds.

The announcers attributed that drop on the slant to an errant throw by Allar. The throw was a tad behind Lambert-Smith, but it was a catchable ball. I blame both of them. If Allar had hit Lambert-Smith in stride, he may have taken it to the end zone. Still, it should have been a catch.

An ok throw that should have been caught.

A better throw and I think it’s a TD.

Not sure why people dump on KLS. He is good very good.
I would have loved to have seen that ball be caught and it go for another touchdown. But, another thing I haven’t seen — ever — is a receiver who caught every single pass that came his way. So, I’m accepting it and I’m glad we have the guy…. I think we’ll see a lot more good plays than bad ones out of him this year.

I believe he had the best opening game stats of any receiver we’ve had in a long time.

Agree. We should have tipped our hand and shown the rest of the teams on our schedule all of our best plays on offense and defense that way they can plan for them so we can beat them straight up with no surprises. 😏

I do agree. He’s close. But he’s good for one drop a game. And the missed slant, should of been caught.

That drop on thatvslant was a very low pass and not in his stride. Not good ball placement by Allar.

Yeah, he did not play well @ all. Jacobs is a better LBer. Carter has speed and closing speed but he was out of position too often and wasn't breaking down in position for tackles. He must improve for B1G play.

Carter’s beginning to remind me a little of Arrington…..incredibly gifted athletically and capable of making plays for both the Offense as well as the Defense.

Except he never had to play behind Mac Morrison.

I think that was Aaron Gatten. Morrison, LaVar, and Short were on the field together the following year. Morrison was highly underrated. He was a really good LBer.
I just remember Joe saying "I'm not sure that Mac Morrison is not the best linebacker on this team". Pretty sure that was intended to keep Short and Lavar motivated.

Almost all of WVU runs were inside the tackles. His job is to set the edge and then go to the ball. Like others, I am a little concerned about the DTs and MLB. They were ok at best. Hopefully vanover and Izzard will be back in 2 weeks. I think WVU avg yards per carry are skewed low due to all of the sneaks and dives in short yardage.

Too many drops - including a sure long TD from KLS. They were solid but no one would start on O$U.

I was shocked at how much of a non-factor Carter was…DDS too.

Jacobs is a middling LB. Heck of an athlete though…

Gee , DoubleD.

Where ever did you source your latest troll moniker? Was it from another posters tag line claiming that he once dated a girl with double D’s and they were in her last name?

Your Pittidiot schtict is so noticeable it only took me 8 of your posts coupled with a bunch of gullible PSU guppies to expose yourself.

As are you a sub-middling Pitt fan living in your late mothers basement in Johnstown ?

You’ve been doing this for almost 15 years. Aside from mental retardation, do you suffer from any other afflictions? .

Please remove the Pitt trash along with his other latest moniker…. Macnit2.0. ( who happened to “like” your post in this thread)

He’s the same Pitt POS that polluted the old board via his VPN ability to crap out multiple user names

I felt like WVU ran mostly towards the strong side vs weak side, and behind the C/Gs. Probably why Jacobs and Kobe were the 2 leading tacklers: more opportunities.

Carter had one bad whiff on an open field tackle and I think it stands out more than anything else. How much did his location on the field dictate what WVU did and where they ran the plays towards? I think that's more important than the stat sheet.

Wow…very mature response…where do you see Jacobs? All- America? All Big10? How about on team? Best LB? Second Best?

Maybe you should be removed? Your maturity level seems a bit on the low side for an adult football discussion.

I didn't get to fully watch until recently as time with my family (while the game was on in the background) gladly took most of my attention. Agree with pretty much everything said so far. My rando thoughts...

1. Carter was boom/bust all night long. Seemed to take plays off. When he's on, he's fire though. Gotta keep him motivated.

2. We have been spoiled at RB for a long time. Robinson and Allen are excellent and praying they stay healthy. They're as big a key to success this year as...

3. Allar. Awesome. Did get the sense he tried to create a bit too much but not sure you can ask for a better debut. Cool, confident, and rail gun for an arm. I do think the playbook was a bit limited so nothing to the TE's (save Warren's one catch) who I think will have a big impact this year. Lord, please keep this young man healthy.

4. Nice to see the back-ups get some reps - Pribula plays with a lot of confidence and does remind me of McSorley. QB Room is really stacked.

5. Secondary is tremendous. They can hit, defend, tackle, and cover. Just really talented and deep. King is the standout but Mixon is next man up.

6. Interior DL still a concern; can't believe we can't get a big run stuffer here. CJF's lone unicorn every recruiting season.

7. Atmosphere was electric. Helmet Stripe looked awesome and allows for basically another White Out environment. Nice to see some star PSU NFL guys there too - Parsons, Barkley, Dotson, JPJR (anyone else I miss?).

8. Hey! Liam Clifford! Good hands!

Great win to start the year; will take it every time.

O$U has multiple NFL caliber receivers…PSU? Not so much.
Not by the looks of the first game which is what you’re making your decisions based on, so I guess it’s fair.
