I thought Florida was too physical for us to beat but we blew this game. Not sure what the defense can do going forward. I thought we would be ok on defense coming into the season but we sure miss Cam Smith, Zac Pickens and some others. Can’t cover, control the run, and can’t pressure enough unless we commit to bringing too many defenders. Next year is going to be tough considering what we lose on offense. Got to recruit and more interested in a new DC than a new OC
Pass coverage is putrid. Simply awful - DBs don’t have a clue where the ball is when it’s in the air which makes them look stupid - on very few plays do they play with discipline- they leave their assignments - take bad bad angles and don’t turn when the balls in the air. All of that is coaching.
Florida played the game like they wanted to win. We played it like we weren’t trying to lose which is a big difference

That D had 2 weeks to get ready. 2 weeks for the vaunted UF offense that had just over 300 yards and 2 TDs against UK. Pathetic. They had guys running wide open all damn day. WTF is Gray doing?? It’s a freaking clown show on that side of the ball.
Beamer looked good with Muschamp's players....not so good with his own! We are the only team in college football that can't get a 5 star receiver ready to play before the 6th game. I think we got sold a bill of goods....we got a cheerleader and social media lover instead of a coach. To much time running around talking about how much they love each other than figuring out how to play defense!
Again, I wouldn’t mind shopping for a new DC. Question is, can we afford a better one? Another question is what is our actual ability on defense. I know we lost some great players but I didn’t expect them to be this bad. Not sure if it’s coaching or lack of talent but they look bad, no doubt.
Lol, I think that has been the rub for the last 20 years. It’s always either been we won’t spend competitively at the level of other programs or the board of trustees tampers with the hires OR the target coach listens to the fraternity of coaches who say you can’t win at SC. Spurrier helped at least put that one to rest for a while.
It’s never been a funds issue that I am aware.
