Yeah idc about it much either just heard a lot of die hard people calling in saying we are top 25 and so many predicting top 25, and were not.Eh, personally don’t care about being ranked. It’s not a team competing for championships so the number or lack of a number by the name isn’t relevant. Not concerned about the perception of those who make the polls. Just more of last night please.
Wow, unranked in AP poll as well. https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll
They have two blowout losses and beat a bunch of patsies. Those are some really awful teams for the most part. Clemson has zero quality wins.Yep somehow Clemmons stays in the mic with only opponent so far that has a winning record.
Louisville breaks in in after defeating them

This. I think being unranked in both polls pretty much guarantees there will be no psychological letdown. Team's gonna be mad as hell.Total disrespect and I love it. One less pat on the back this week will fuel the team.
Hopefully they play with that same chip on their shoulders as they did last night. Vandy is a tough out.This. I think being unranked in both polls pretty much guarantees there will be no psychological letdown. Team's gonna be mad as hell.
Still or yet?
Neither.
Mixed my post but it wasnt that difficult before.
Clemson has defeated one team above .500.
Rankings are big because once you are ranked, it is far easier to move up, then if youre not ranked.Honestly none of this ranking stuff matters at this point.Bowl eligibility is non factor.Total attention should be on beating the next opponent which course is Vandy.
4 one game seasons left. Then you see how you stack up.
Just keep winning and good things will happen.I have no issues with Vandy being ranked, and we are not.
They beat Bama, and we did not. They went and took Texas to the wire. They have a solid resume.
We came up short in 2 big games, and have 1 signature win.
If we keep winning then maybe we can break the top 25.
As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, at this point we are playing for a good bowl game, it's not like we are in consideration for the playoffs.
I think the Ole Miss loss hurts the most. But regardless having 3 losses is the biggest issue. No 3 loss teams in the rankings currently.the LSU loss is really killing us sadly, the Alabama thing we should have won with the onside recovery we still blew it. what could have been, oh well.
Total disrespect and I love it. One less pat on the back this week will fuel the team.
I do not see it as disrespect. There are no 3-loss teams in the top 25 and I see no reason for us to be at the moment.Total disrespect and I love it. One less pat on the back this week will fuel the team.
Check out Josh Pate's comments at the end of his Sunday night show regarding polls (posted in another thread) as he has major issues with the polls and repeatedly refers to ranked teams being where they are due to ''mailed in ballots from writers who have never watched teams play''.My issue with the polls is as follows.
UGA # 2 ????. They struggled all day against an undermanned UF team playing a 3rd string QB, and the win against Clemson has now been diminished. A loss to a 2 loss team that got beat by Vandy.
Tennesee #6. Yes they are good, but the 6th best team in the country ?
Notre Dame #8 Again, a good team, but a stunning loss at home to Northern Illinois (4-4)
UGA - Injuries and thug behavior have caught up to them. They are down to 2 RBs that are healthy and their two best WRs have been kicked off the team for being thugs. Ole Miss and/or UT can easily beat them. When you start the season #1 and your only loss was a close one and you beat the #1 team, you aren't going to fall much.My issue with the polls is as follows.

Hopefully Army can beat ND.UGA - Injuries and thug behavior have caught up to them. They are down to 2 RBs that are healthy and their two best WRs have been kicked off the team for being thugs. Tennessee - Their magical Heupel O is struggling. They have a very good DL and that is what has kept them on the winning side of things. They were #7 to start with. The loss to Arkansas should have hurt them more than it did.
Notre Dame - The perpetual media darling. ND is the only college team with a truly national fan base so the writers and tv will do almost anything to keep them relevant.
I'll add that Clemson is still ranked because they too are a media darling. Dabo's cheerleader, aw shucks, over the top act is loved by tv. They have not beaten a team with a winning record or a pulse yet they are still ranked.Hopefully Army can beat ND.
We have a long history of crashing and burning shortly after breaking into the rankings, so I always like to think that makes many voters hesitant.I'll add that Clemson is still ranked because they too are a media darling. I also think the polls try and keep at least 5 teams from each of the major conferences in the polls to keep interest in the games. Outside of Miami, the ACC is total garbage this season and they have 5 ranked teams. Louisville has 3 losses and are ranked.
Yep. Being ranked creates expectations. Not sure we're ready for that yet.We have a long history of crashing and burning shortly after breaking into the rankings, so I always like to think that makes many voters hesitant.
I wouldn't let any of that bother me. It's hype and politics. Is there still a Sagarin ranking? That was science. My issue with the polls is as follows.

We all know that the wire service polls are bogus, and always have been.Check out Josh Pate's comments at the end of his Sunday night show regarding polls (posted in another thread) as he has major issues with the polls and repeatedly refers to ranked teams being where they are due to ''mailed in ballots from writers who have never watched teams play''.
He also states that there are not 25 teams in the country better than SC.
Agree with these two at least. As for UGA, their vaunted quarterback is awful at decision-making - awful.UGA - Injuries and thug behavior have caught up to them. They are down to 2 RBs that are healthy and their two best WRs have been kicked off the team for being thugs. Ole Miss and/or UT can easily beat them. Not so much bothersome, more in line with perplexed.I wouldn't let any of that bother me. It's hype and politics. Is there still a Sagarin ranking? That was science.
Need to make it more clinical and less subjective. That's why I say let the computers do it.Not so much bothersome, more in line with perplexed.
That was tried briefly during the BCS era, however there was "tweaking" every year to the formula, for a multitude of reasons, making the system an anathema to the average CFB fanNeed to make it more clinical and less subjective. That's why I say let the computers do it.
I still believe the BCS rankings were the best rankings ever devised. IMO, that is what they should use today instead of having a playoff committee ranking teams. That was tried briefly during the BCS era, however there was "tweaking" every year to the formula, for a multitude of reason, makin the system a anathema to the average CFB fan
Who is #2 then? There's no clearcut best team this year. Oregon might be the closest thing to it, but even they have had their struggles.UGA is not the second best team in the country. Maybe top ten.
