It looks like we’re running our offense as if they are in zone when they switched to man. It’s ugly. No screens. No penetration. Just standing around and passing the ball outisde. Hopefully we’ll adjust during this timeout. I’d take the 7 point lead as ugly as it was there for the last 5 minutes. Why do we get sooooio lazy with our passes?
Rare miss from Johnson. And by rare, I mean 0-9. I agree with announcers though…gotta shoot through it. He’s a streaky guy. But I’d like to see Meechie drive with the basketball the next time he touches it. Make something happen or get an easy bucket. Everything is tossed inside or outside shot. No penetration by our guards.
Our offense has gone Frank Martin era cold here the last 4 minutes.
I guess you no longer have to have set position as a defender. Lol
He slowed to time his steps on the dunk. His mistake was that he didn’t have enough separation and should’ve used his body and layed it in. Still an ugly play.Shoot through it next game. 0-9, 0-7 from 3 and had his dunk blocked because he slowed up. We need him but he needs to sit the balance of this game.
Great game for Ugusuk - he didn't even play in the earlier game at MO this season. Jacobi Wright added 11 pts 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Gray also contributed - 5 pts, 3 rebounds, and 1 block in 13 minutes. Our bench out-scored Missouri's 26-15, and shot a combined 8-12 for the game....4 players in double figures scoring.
- Mack - 21
- Cooper - 12
- Wright - 11
- Ugusuk - 10
Meechie was scoreless. But that’s who he is as a player. He can win a game for us when he’s on, but we’re good enough to win games when he’s off.
There was a reason we were only a 6 point favorite. We beat the spread.Had a feeling it would be a close game. Classic trap game. The W was all that mattered today.
Lamont made the decision to sit him the balance of the game about the same time as my post. He kept his head when he was on the bench, but he needs to help us in other ways (assists, driving to the bucket) when his shot is off.He slowed to time his steps on the dunk. I wouldn’t complain if they sat him. I get it either way. But most coaches are absolutely going to want their best players to keep shooting. Under 5 I’m going with my hottest players. Obviously he’s not that today. But if he’s on the court, he’s got to keep shooting when it’s open. Worst thing is to get passive.
They (SEC Network Crew) asked Paris about Meechie after the game. It was kind of odd because it was literally the 1st question which I thought was strange rather than just something simple like, “how important was this win?” He said he’d never pull Johnson because he was missing shots. Said he is too important to the team, that he still does so much in the game without the ball by moving around and is a good defender.Lamont made the decision to sit him the balance of the game about the same time as my post. Meechie is great taking the ball to the hoop and he's a very good passer. In addition, he's a very good rebounding guard. Today, he didn't do much of anything. I agree, let him work through his shooting issues but if he's not contributing elsewhere, he needs to sit. They asked Paris about Meechie after the game. I’m not shocked he wasn’t in there at the end. He wasn’t at the end of the other Missouri game either. He did put Meechie back in the game when it got down to offensive / defensive subs.
100% agree when Meechie is off, he needs to try something other than shooting 3’s. I’d like to see Paris draw something up for him in a game when for an easy bucket out of a timeout in a game where he’s already 0-4 or 5.
Unfortunately there is no “a” but it would be better that way.Ugasuk is a fantastic name.
He’s a very emotional player. Most streaky guys are. Actually that reminded me of something else Paris did say…that as long as the shooting doesn’t affect those other parts of his game, he’s going to play.Meechie is great taking the ball to the hoop and he's a very good passer. I like what he has to offer but today simply wasn't his day.
Solid? Dude’s a studMurray-Boyles so good defensively. If he can develop offensively he could be solid.
