let us be 2-0 going into this weekend...that should be the biggest bb probably ever and with a 6oclock espn game against aub the next day it could potentially be a special weekend in starkville

seriously...seriously?? that blows. they should get blind melon. they freakin rocked last night at rick's. their new lead singer (travis warren) was awesome. i couldn't really tell the diff between him and shannon, live. they closed the show last night with the pusher and it was badass.

I'm gonna have to make a long weekend out the Auburn weekend.

Cross Canadian Ragweed is gonna be at the State Theater Sept 15 with the Band of Heathens. I will for sure be up that weekend.

Thanks to the tool bags who run the Student Association and these events, our city will once again be overrun with metrosexuals and fohawks. What terrible taste in music!

I concur, Blind Melon was kickin last night.

no where did i even talk about my taste in music yet you felt the need to give your opinions

Let's see, you say this could be the biggest bulldog bash ever and a special weekend in starkville as the first reply to a post about gavin degraw playing. I think it's pretty logical to assume that you were implying that you like gavin degraw.

By the way, what happened to Pearl Jam, didn't see that one not happening, damn.

Don't care for the new stuff, but they played the Varsity in BR a couple months ago and it was pretty nice. Wish I'd seen them when Hoon was still alive.

We might as well have the band formerly known as John Smith. WTF? Pearl Jam would have been a great weekend. I must be getting old. I don't know any bands mentioned in this thread other than Pearl Jam. Oh, and CiCi's isn't that bad when you're a broke college student. Although it's not on my top 2 list of what Starkvegas needs, it's not a bad idea. In 4 years, my son will need a place to eat without spending all of my money.

You're life is probably better not knowing who Gavin Degraw is. As for Cici's, it's only good if you haven't eaten in three days or you just ran a marathon.

Cross Canadian Ragweed. Haven't we pissed off the horticulture folks enough? First Doc and the damn flowers and now you want to bring in an exotic ragweed? I thought we were talking about bands coming for BB. I quit.

My point was, I know nothing of new bands today. I'd rather the Black Crowes come again (although that will never happen). Hell, even Ra....if you want a "new" band.

my advice is get the biggest name you can get that the women love thus bringing out the men.

this is what i was trying to express...like him or not gavin degraw is the biggest headliner BB has had that I can remember (maybe sister hazel) but probably bigger

throw that on top of the fact that god willing we will be 2-0 going into the auburn game on a saturday night ESPN game which is why i can see it being one of the biggest weekends starkville has ever experienced

my thoughts were dismissed by coastaldog however on the basis that I liked pizza when I was in college

and I believe you -- not doubting you, why was their lead singer being on this side of the ground so important to their commercial success?

But I don't think it was bulldog bash. Apparently, much of the bulldog nation doesn't like maryjane mentioned or a picture of it in public. It's been a good while back.

Would it kill them to bring a good ole hippie band around here? Wait I forgot the last time that happened the SPD got a huge erection and arrested 50 harmless panic fans. Our tax money is so well spent around here.....

I said it was nice seeing them. The lead singer has a way of making the band sometimes, and Shannon Hoon to Blind Melon did exactly that. I didn't think much of the new guy. It was good to see them play their old stuff, but the old stuff didn't leave much of an impression on me.

As far as why they haven't had commercial success since reemerging, I can only offer up my beliefs. They waited too long, the new guy is a shadow of the old, and the new material leaves much to be desired.
