A coach that can develop talent would love to have this room. It’s raw, but the talent is clearly there:I'm sure coach Gape will pay dividends with this talent on the roster. Another breakthough hire by Rhule. I mean the idiot AD. Ad actually he wan't a horible pick. Just nothing great.
Donnie couldn’t recruit.A coach that can develop talent would love to have this room. It’s raw, but the talent is clearly there:
Gunner Gottula - 4 star recruit
JEJ - 2 years starting
Juju Marks - 4 star recruit
Houston Ka’aha’aina Torres - #6 IOL as recruit
Grant Brix - 4 star recruit
Gibson Pyle - High School All-American
Shawn Hammerbeck - 4 star recruit
Preston Taumua - 4 star recruit
Claude Mpouma - 4 star recruit
He’s got some dudes to work with, in addition to whatever he does with the portal.
He could develop like the best of them, but couldn’t recruit to save his life.Donnie couldn’t recruit.

Seems like a bit of an underwhelming choice, but time will tell.I'm sure coach Gape will pay dividends with this talent on the roster. Another breakthough hire by Rhule. I mean the idiot AD. Ad actually he wan't a horible pick. Just nothing great.
You are so right. We should have taken OSU or Alabama’s OL coach.Seems like a bit of an underwhelming choice, but time will tell.
ACC was dog crap, so the GT results should be viewed in context.
I imagine Wade got a nice $$$ bump.
Were they available? You are so right. We should have taken OSU or Alabama’s OL coach.
Gape? What are you, nine years old?I'm sure coach Gape will pay dividends with this talent on the roster. Another breakthough hire by Rhule. I mean the idiot AD. Ad actually he wan't a horible pick. Just nothing great.
The oldest best O line recruits are sophomores and freshmen most of whom are either redshirting or injured. This right here has been my biggest b1tch for the OL since he got here... There have been some Dudes that have come to this program and the coaching staff have done a major disservice to them! These kids put their faith in the staff to develop them and get them to the next level, what they received is piss poor and the entire team has suffered because of it.
That might say more about the upperclassmen. The oldest best O line recruits are sophomores and freshmen most of whom are either redshirting or injured.

We gotta learn to not judge the level of a conference as a reason that a coach might or might not be good. There are good coaches everywhere at every level.Seems like a bit of an underwhelming choice, but time will tell.

He was a 4 star according to Rivals. I just recently learned it. I assumed he was a consensus 3 star.I don't recall Gunner being 4 star. I've also learned to take star rating with a huge grain of salt when it comes to OL recruiting.
It's why at a place like Nebraska who calls itself a developmental program your OL and DL coaches should be the best on your staff.
Which is why even though I thought our OL showed a little improvement with Donnie he's been here way too long to have what we had at OL this year.
I'm hoping like hell we make a similar approach at DL coach. Can't settle for guys whose first time heading a room on your own is at Nebraska . Jmo of course...i like Braddens energy but we need better/more.
Holla
Decent recruiter.Donnie couldn’t recruit.
Yes, as I look at his salary here at The Huskers, he should be plenty well kept. As a older guy from Frank Solich fullback days, development is weight room & steel against steel. I've just never like the body makeup or attitude our linemen had on the field. As a questioner asked Jay Foreman a few yrs ago. "Who scares you on the offensive line?" NO BODY, he said.. Chuckles I had.Decent recruiter.
Possibly the worst developer of talent ever seen though.
Wonder if his nephew can get him a job next year.
FTFYRhule is dog crap, so the candidates who might actually come here should be viewed in context.
Haven’t seen them yet. I’m not sure they aren’t being developed. I’m hoping we end up with some guys who start for 2 years as redshirt juniors and seniors out of our last two classes. He was a 4 star according to Rivals. I just recently learned it. I assumed he was a consensus 3 star.
Development has been a problem here. Which is a huge reason Donnie needed to go. But my point in the post was that he brought in some good talent from the HS level. They just never got developed. Idk about the rest of you, but I’d rather have a room full of 4 & 3 star dudes than 2 & 3 star dudes. Hopefully this next guy can develop them. Our offense will go as far as his room progresses this offseason (portal and development), as well as the progress from QB1.
Dude, take this somewhere else. The constant baiting is tired, and nobody here needs it. The choices players and coaches make are their business, and your only aim seems to be stirring things up.
