Hypothetical question: As a fan, would you rather your team win a conference title (unlikely this year for Penn State) and lose your first round playoff game OR not win a conference title and win a first round playoff game and making the elite eight? Conference titles are forever.

Financially for a school, does it benefit them to not finish in the top four but rather five through eight and host a first round playoff game? Certainly seems that way and for the school's town/area hotels, restaurants, etc.

When I was working, those that couldn't get their work done were rewarded with overtime which to me was rewarding inefficiency. Seems like finishing ranked five through eight is better financially than finishing in the top four.

Whatever is the best path to the championship. The value of a conference championship nowadays is a first round bye and bragging rights among your fellow conference members. Otherwise, nobody cares. Who won the other conference titles last year?? I have no idea.

Conference Title. Because PSU would get the bye.

In your scenario they both lose in the same round. Although if the latter scenario extended the season by a week I might take that option now that I am older.

As a Penn State fan, I have the same aspirations as our top competitors Ohio State and Michigan.

- Win the B1G Championship
- Beat Ohio State and Michigan (when they are on the schedule)
- Win a National Championship

Nobody remembers who finished 2, 3, 4, 5,…..10, etc. Fans remember who was Number 1.
