Looking to upgrade generators this year for tailgating. Old generator is too loud and heavy. I found 1000W Northern Industrial Generator on northerntool.com for $370. It is supposed to be quiet and rated at 63dB. Wondering how loud it actually is. Wound like have one quiet enough to run at our tent without having to run a long extension cord. Any thoughts and experiences with your generators tailgating appreciated.

Do yourself and your neighbors a favor and get a Honda. There isn't a second place.

I got a 1000w first (about $750 I think) and it was fine to run fans, TV's, etc. for the tailgate. I got a 2000w (about $1,000) when Katrina came through and it would run the fridge, TV's, fans and stuff at the house. So for tailgating, I can't see you ever needing more than the 2000w.

While I agree Honda is absolutely #1 I must say Yamaha makes a very good unit, about as quiet, and at last check, a little less $$$.

After much research I bought a Honda eu2000i last week for our tailgate. The best price I found was from Wisesales.com - $879 delivered in three days. The local Jackson dealer wanted $100 more.
