Lodging is just outrageous for the weekend and would much rather be able to get up and back in the same day.. Looking for 2 seats if anyone is taking a plane there and looking to offset some of the cost. Any and all leads appreciated

It's doable by car. Depending on traffic, between 3-4 hours each way.

yea. traffic gets tough though for the noon games and the two night minimum for most places is annoying. Flew in for the OSU game but had a bigger group. The per-seat price on that flight ended up coming up out to what a hotel room for 2 ppl will cost for next weekend.

I doubt it would be cheap, but.....if you can get to the Island...

or Teterboro....

I also think Fullington offers shuttles from the airport (they drop by the Physical Plant across Park Ave, I believe)

I know some guys who have planes, but they are not licensed to ferry paying passengers - it's a very tight FAA rule, and one that all pilots I know follow to the letter because of the ramifications to their license if they break that rule.

You could also look to drive to Williamsport or some place east of SC get a room there Friday night, and then just drive in and after the game, drive home. Frankly, that is your best bet.

Agree, was just going to recommend that. Also look at Lock Haven or Lewisburg. May not need the two night min there. That's about an hour away.

thanks. We are holding places in SC. the prices for what you get are just insane. figured there may be someone out here that was coming from the city by plane and may be able to make life easy.

Thanks for the links. we have a jet guy if we end up doing it... just the full plane is a bit excessive when it's only 2 of us so thought someone may be looking to offset some costs.

Good to know about needing a different license. It did seem that a number of people who flew in for the OSU game had flown themselves and their family/friends there.

Yeah, most people have what's known as a private pilot license and fly recreationally. So it's a limiting factor for them.

The option is if they are going to the game, or if you can talk them into going to the game (i.e. get them a ticket), then under their license, they can charge you a prorated amount for fuel, landing and parking fees, etc. The amount they can charge you would be equivalent to that portion of the total costs, divided by the number of people who are travelling in the plane.

I would also suggest contacting the two airports and talking to the FBO (Fixed Base Operations) and asking them to post the request for you (this is assuming you can get a ticket to the game for them). If you do emd up talking to a pilot, they can give you more details on the process and it might work out.

In a small private plane, a flight to SC could take about 1 1/2 hours, depending on winds. But, it would be a beautiful flight.

Appreciate all the insight. From teterboro it was about an hour there and about 50 min back. If any of your pilot friends are trying to go to the game, we've got them! haha. cheers!
