I saw somebody posted about GJ Kinne and tbh I had no idea who he is. I did a little research and if we went after a young guy I could get excited about this hire. He won the championship at UIW with the top offense and then when he got hired by Texas State completely overhauled the roster thru the portal second only to Deions in numbers. Then they put it together and beat Baylor in the first game. Has coached with every big name it seems like. Might be a gamble but he seems hungry

Good Lord, man. Are you kidding? "Might be a gamble" is a HUGE understatement. This would be like buying a lottery ticket. Might pay off big, but you know it won't.
Pay attention to the Accountant.

MSU needs a Blue Chip coach for a Blue Chip League.

If you want to go digging around the Sun Belt, somebody is going to hire Troy coach Jon Sumrall this year most likely. He's built a nice coaching resume and won the league in his first season last year and should be playing for the title again this season. He's an SEC guy from Alabama that played and coached at UK and did a season at OM. 41 years old and entering his coaching prime.

Curt Cignetti at James Madison is 62 and killing it, but he's an easy coast/mid Atlantic guy and will be somewhere like WV or Syracuse next year.

Yeah. Anybody that thinks we are getting Liepold or someone like that is insane. Nobody is keaving a good job to come get your teeth kicked in the the SEC. We could get Herman I'm sure. We need young and exciting that knows how to evaluate talent and can recruit. I mean evaluate high school and portal. Everybody says we didn't get anybody in the portal this year but we did. Apparently they just can't get on the field. It would be hard to downgrade from our current staff.

Somebody will hit it big with this guy. Do some research.

He's a G5 HC that we should look at. Not saying we hire him, but he should be someone on the long side of the list.

Cooterpoot said it.

He’s well on the long side of the list— if only because research shows ain’t much of a profile on him.

One and a half years as a head coach.

Two years as a coordinator.

The previous coach at UIW ain’t doing great at North Texas this year so the jury’s definitely still out…

I know nothing about Sumrall, but he took over a 5-7 team, went 12-2 in year one, and it’s highly likely he will go 12-2 again this year.

I wish we had made Mason Miller the interim coach. We would definitely be better off. Might not have been good but at least he had tons of experience. Arnept has almost no experience so for you guys that wanna compare Kinne has way more coaching experience than our current coach. Nfl with the Eagles and several years on some really good staffs plus HC experience. Most of y'all thought Arnept was a great decision so that says a lot

And this is why he shouldn't be a candidate. We just took a big gamble on an inexperienced coach and it blew up in our face. Last thing we need is another one. We need to be looking at Helton and Herman first and then go from there.
I can get what you are saying. I have nothing against Herman. I could get behind that. Comparing Kinne resume to Arnept is not even close tho. You haven't looked at it if you do. Kinne has been around. Arnept coached for Long and Leach. All on defense and honestly never had a good defense. You left out his time with the Eagles. Time at UTSA, UCF, SMU, Hawaii, Arkansas. Played for the Jets. Other than the Jets that's a lot of offensive fire power

That's a lot of crappy low-level conferences he's bounced around. He's literally not held one job for more than 1 year. And he was a freaking offensive analyst for 1 year for a 2-9 Arkansas team and an offensive special projects for 1 year for the Eagles. Let's not act like he's some proven genius.

No but he has coached under a lot of so called geniuses. But I like Herman too. Better than Helton. Herman was great at Iowa State as OC. Great at OSU. Great at Houston. Pretty good at Texas. FAU not so much. But he is following Willie so that's gotta count for something. I was saying Herman a week ago

He just signed a 5 year contract at 4 mill a year. So I assume it might cost 15 or 20 mill. I don't know how it works exactly but you know Liberty is gonna have to be compensated to release him from his contract

I would like to get him as an OC but I think he just lacks experience we really need right now. We need someone that knows that whey are doing. This is the SEC and no time for training wheels.
