Sounds about right!! Seems to be beamer's MO when it comes to players and coaches. There's no trophy for most long-shots taken.
Grad transfers and guys who lost their coaches can enter this week. Everyone else is next week. It wouldn't be prudent to go wild with offers this week. The way everyone is talking, it's going to be chaos. I'm wondering if not getting that 6th win might be a little bit of a blessing. We've got some big immediate needs that need to be addressed if Beamer is going to turn the corner. I would imagine not having bowl prep gives him more time to work the portal/NIL.
I wouldn't waste an offer on a 2* unless the portal's closing and you're desperate for bodies.

Right, the only players currently in the portal are FCS players or grad transfers. We have a history of looking at Ivy League players already, so no surprise with Neville. Our TE room could use some depth anyway.
Scott has multiple offers from SEC programs now, so his star rating probably underestimates his quality.
We also don't want to get stuck like we did last year and then whiff on 2-3 guys and miss out on 5-6 guys because of the whiffs.
We're not going to start seeing real moves until next week. Beamer probably isn't even done with player meetings yet. The portal season is an entire month long, not 48 hours like some of y'all act.
I wouldn't get too wound up. You don't know what the offer is. Is it a PWO like Jaxson Hughes? The other kid is a 3* OT that AU has also offered. Just b/c we were one of the first, doesn't mean others won't follow.
This week is only for grad transfers and guys that lost coaches. Opens for everyone else next week. Can we pause the freak out session until we see how it shakes out?

After such a dismal season that ended with a dismal exclamation point against Clemson though, I'm just ready for some news that is re-invigorating. All we have is hope, so we need reasons to give us hop.
One good thing would firing the DC. Not sure why that hasn't happened already. Is there a reason to wait?
Portal-wise, offering a TE from Harvard doesn't move the excitement needle. Hopefully, there are bigger offers to come.
And with a 5-7 record you expect all 5 stars to be transferring here? The O-lineman was a 3star which lots of starts and is being recruited by other SEac schools. Did many of you say the same for Brooks from Wingate who's in the NFL or Juice from JMU? The coaches are looking for hidden gems that can make a difference. We will fail on some but hopefully successful on some.

Sorry, I'm much like you in that this season, compounded by the ending has me in a real sour mood. My confidence level in our staff right now is at about a 2. Objectively, I think Shane will eventually get it done here - as well as anyone else ever has - but it's painful, painful to be going through it.
Until some guys enter the portal, we won't have room. We are three over in scholarships with the incoming class. I know, I know, the numbers always work out but we can't add until there are some subtractions. Scott did get an offer from Auburn, and Colorado. His transfer rating is a low 4 star.
That would fit Beamer's MO thus far. Not sure if he can't attract experienced guys, or if he's trying to prove he can without experienced guys.
I think we're going to see quite a few hit the portal.

Too early to draw any conclusions. I'm glad I'm not riding in the backseat of a car some of y'all are driving. The way some of y'all jerk around at every little thing, it would be a terrifying experience.
Online forums exist for knee-jerk reactions. It offers a space for free-flowing, unfiltered thought. I can be totally reactionary here because it doesn't matter at all.
It's not how you start - it's how you finish. 97% of teams in the country are going to lose a ton, and then bring a ton in.

Perhaps they're not interested. Portal is only open for 6 weeks. It's speed dating. You can't afford to dump a lot of time convincing someone only to have them go elsewhere. It's not like HS recruiting where you can spend 3 years developing a relationship.

Lack of playing time, and was likely told to go ahead and move on. We're currently at 88 scholarships including our incoming class. Gotta make room for portal players coming in.

Agreed. Some of them need to submit a resume to coach Beamer. They have all the answers.
