In a society where we give out participation trophies for picking your nose, what do you expect.
James Madison is playing Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Minnesota got in with the highest APR rating among 5-7 teams. There was not enough 6-6 teams to fill all the slots.
Agreed…. But who on that bowl committee said, “let’s get Minnesota while we can!” I bet the Minny fans are plucking up the tickets! I am sure the TV people are ecstatic!
Lower tier bowls are all about being a TV product and filler for ESPN for mid December. It doesn’t matter if they don’t sell a single ticket.
Nothing new, happened before. With only 133 FBS teams not unusual for there to be fewer than 86 teams with records of 9-6 or better to fill the available slots.
JMU was granted a waiver and will play in the Armed Forces bowl against Air Force. Believe one or two other transition schools, Jacksonville State comes to mind, were also granted waivers.
Well, putting in a 5-7 Minny team will certainly make me rearrange my golf schedule for when they play!

I am sure PJ made sure that all his players were hitting the books to make sure they had a great APR rating! I can hear it now, “great job guys, because of you guys hitting the books so hard we get to practice for another month and play Bowling Green! Aren’t you excited!!!”
Played golf out in Southern CA this past week and played a fabulously different public course about an hour from Newport Beach:
Oak Quarry Golf Club
Ups and downs, turns and twists, magnificent views, very good conditioning, many awards since it opened in 2000. I dare anyone to try to walk this course on any 6/21 even without golf clubs!

Not that big a fan of PB….but Spyglass is one of my favorites. Have fun, play well and hope the weather cooperates for you.
Our son has played them multiple times he loves them both. Our son owns a golf course and because of the volume of merchandise he sells we get a free trip except for air fare and rental car. Would like to get a round in at Spanish Bay also.

Never played SB.
PB can play like a Bataan Death March at times but any / every golfer should play it at least once. Late day looking into the sun on 17 can be brutal. Over the years my safe shot has become a power(less) fade, my friends say I’m the only guy they know that aims at Honolulu on 18.
