January 1, 1994, Citrus Bowl against Tennessee. Carter goes 14 to the house with three seconds left in the half, PSU goes up 17-13. I read that Collins asked “Are you sure?” when Joe gave him the play, lol. A great call, great run, great team.

Tony Sacca (pronounced Saccer for those who follow PSU football) flips ball behind his back for an inside shovel reverse to Drayton vs. Miami. First down plus half the distance for facemask. (6:50 on the game tape).

A couple:

First, in the game immediately before the one you mentioned - PSU/MSU in the regular season finale

PSU was down big early

1) Right before the half, closing seconds, rather than play for the FG, dial up a post pattern to Freddie Scott for a TD. To close to within a score

After falling behind to MSU 37-17 in the 2nd half, things don't look good - but PSU keeps firing the ball all over the field (Collins to Brady/Engram/Scott). And comes back to win 38-37.

The day the PSU 1994 offense was born.

The second was on PSU's next trip to East Lansing, in 1995:

MSU up 20-17 in the closing minute and a half. PSU takes over deep in their own territory, and starts "matriculating the ball down the field" (Similar to Illinois 1994)
Final seconds, PSU at the 5 yard line. No timeouts. If they run a play in bounds, and don't get in, the clock runs out and they lose - so you throw to the end zone, and if no good, kick the field goal. Right?
Nope.

2) Inside flanker screen to Engram (which MSU has defended well) - but Engram finds a way to get to the end zone and win the game.

Sometimes you just have to give your best player a chance.

1985 - Against Alabama at home. Shaffer goes out with an injury....with the ball on the Alabama 11 yard line. Knizner, (aka The People's Quarterback) comes in, and everyone expected a run. Knizner rolls to his right, and hits Brian Siverling on the 1 yard line, and Siverling takes it in for the score.

No one was prepared for Knizner to pass.

I can’t place the game other than Warner scored on a naked sweep from the 1, against I think Alabama.

(It was Blair Thomas.)

The only one against Alabama i can remember with a naked sweep was the 1986 game in Bama, where Blair Thomas ran the end around and scored from.....the 2 or 3 yard line.

I remember that, but cannot remember what I had for lunch a couple of hours ago....

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, I just now got back to the board after confirming it couldn’t have been Warner. Thomas was the man, thanks for the identification.

1999 - Not one, but two end arounds with the aforementioned Chafie Fields against Arizona to kick off the 1999 season.

Jan 1, 1987- all the defensive calls against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl
1999 Arizona was my first game on the Plot-It board.

The first rule of Plot It, is you don't discuss Plot It.

2013 vs Wisconsin at Camp Randall. 2:40 left in the game and Penn State facing a 3rd and 9 from their own 18 yard line clinging to 31-24 lead. Bill O’Brien calls a draw play to Zach Zwinak that goes for 61 yards and extends the PSU drive and salts away valuable clock. PSU missed the FG here, but held on for the win after entering the game as 24 point underdogs to the 15th ranked 9-2 Badgers at home. Afterwards, BO’B excoriated one of the PSU beat writers (I think it was Dave Jones) for a piece written earlier in the week not giving PSU much of a chance. The locker room speech was short but to the point.

Got to 4:00 mark, look at the score. Following this play the top number doesn't change for the remaining 17 minutes of the game.

November 1982- Down 14-13 in the 4th quarter against Notre Dame... Near midfield, PSU calls a double wing and Blackledge goes back to pass... ND does not worry about Warner as a receiver and leaves him uncovered... Big mistake. Warner takes the quick slant and races for the go-ahead touchdown leaving the Irish defenders in the dust. This shifts momentum in South Bend and theoretically puts the game on ice. It also sets the tone for the National Championship run with victories over Spitt and UGA.

I remember a column in the Orlando Sentinel to this day....forget who the writer was, but great column about underdog PSU beating Tennessee. I remember what he said about that exact play: "Imagine, Penn State crossing somebody up with the run"

This one still gets a laugh...

We signed up for 60, Rutgers!!

"The play that led to the unpleasantries after the game came back into the realm of discussion decades later. McQueary, who completed the long touchdown pass rather than look to convert for a first down to a tight end, was reportedly involved with some gambling debts into the thousands, according to an old report from ESPN. It is alleged McQueary may have gambled on Penn State games, which brought this specific moment back into the limelight. Penn State was a 20-point favorite against Rutgers in that 1995 game. The late touchdown covered the spread."

Misunderstanding.

The wheel route to Saquon in the Big10 championship was among my favorites. Didn't realize that was Watt in coverage.

And Juwan's shush catch vs Iowa. Because it was Iowa. Lol

Here's a nice sequence. I was at this game. (Damns, I'm old.)

And then there are Mike Reid's three safeties in one game.

I think most Penn Staters know this, but for those who may not:

Go back and watch all of the plays after PSU gets the ball down to the 3 yard line. 1st Down, 2nd Down, 3rd Down, and the first two-point conversion try.

See if you notice anything "funny" about the Missouri defense.
There is also an interesting "back story" once you notice the oddity.

I kinda doubt the behind the back part of that was "called". :)
