Pardon my impudence, but I have a quarter in my pocket and a question for the board.

What do you think is the best guitar solo of all time?

It's hard to believe this question hasn't been asked already, but I don't remember. Below is my pick. I've heard dozens and dozens of versions of this solo, lucky for us the best one was captured to multi-track tape and 35MM film.

No pedals to hide behind. Philly's finest...

The guy I wanted to hear from! I didn't have to wait long.

When I saw it was 10 minutes I decided to make a diary

first 3 minutes or so, just kinda bopping around
then some repeated flourishes and a some excitement builds, this repeats
almost meltdown around 4...
applause at 6 min, like a story was told
7ish keyboard player gets his time
8ish I don't know how to play any of these chords or do 'chord solos'
9 minutes time to get all worked up
10 min time to chill again, come in for a landing

That felt like a thing, like a story. That was nice. But I don't know if he broke a sweat. I want people to work for their solos.

Nice! Thanks for listening. I'm not sure Pat ever breaks a sweat.

hardcore UFO song

Yeah!! Kick Arse! I was spinning my OG TML cut of Strangers last Friday. Such an awesome album.

This solo makes me want to go insane and stomp around and break stuff. Funny we found out it wasn't actually a live recording (this and one other song on the album).

Shenker has that youthful arrogance you need for a crucial solo. A good solo lets everyone know you're the badest dude in the room.

Gary Moore was an awesome guitar player also

Ace Frehley, rippin' off peoples' faces, along with Robby Kreiger's riffs.

I had to learn every note of this. You can't play this without kickin' your feet out, spinning around, pointing the neck at imaginary groupies in the front rows... Rock and Roll comic book heroes.

I was jamming at a wedding a few months ago and was feeling it, there's video of me making the same move Ace has on the cover of the album below. With a suit on. Ridiculous.

I hope people watch this and appreciate what he is doing. Charlie is a freak of nature.
Years ago got to see his trio and the John Scofield Uberjam Band on the same bill at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, Pa. Second row seats, mind blown to say the least.

Wow, what a show! I was actually going to post a Scofield solo. IMHO, he may be the best living guitar player.

That was really cool. Not sure what is actually going on there with the red buttons. Maybe massive compression so his hammer-ons sounds like strummed chords and then button works like when you turn off one pickup and toggle back and forth between signal and silence? Definitely another level of tech going on there...

Brent Hinds looked like he was gonna be the new big thing about a decade ago, but unfortunately this album was their peak. He's still probably the best new player of the century. The whole album rips but the solo on here got my attention the first time I heard it. So glad I got to see them play this whole album live. I can't find the actual video, which is amazing, but this will do.
