Guys who have committed to us and later decommitted on Croom's watch.....

Jimmy Johns (per Croom) to Alabama
Jonathan Williams to South Carolina
Jamariey Atterbury to Ole Miss
Chris Garrett to LSU
Co-Eric Riley (eventually came back to us)

I may be missing some, but me thinks this is Rebel paranoia from Robert Elliot and last year's O to Nutt transition. We've lost legacies and leans, but we've been pretty good about keeping commitments solid, for the most part.

90% you say, Halpert? JUST counting 3* guys and better, we've had 7.5% (5 of 67) since 2004. Probably not entirely accurate numbers, but you get the drift. Am I leaving anyone out?

Edit: I guess you can add the PPL guy from Carroll's high school.even though he never committed to us. Auburn did kind of steal him out from under us.

Jimmy Johns left because he wanted to play 1 snap at QB. Croom got pissed and sent Demon Glanton to lay the wood. End of story there. I think Johns lied to Croom and told him he was coming, then went to Bama. It was bad at the time, but if you have a kid that lies and tells you one thing and does another, you don't need him. That might sound sheepish, but that's the way you have to have it.

Jonathan Williams would have come to MSU, but he had a family member die right before February and he felt it was best to go to school closer to home. I can understand that. These guys are like 18-19 years old. He was a JUCO.

Atterberry we truly lost. This guy was a tough one to put a finger on. He liked Ole Miss then he liked MSU. He's off the team now at Ole Miss and I consider this guy a no loss for us because he hasn't even shown anything at UM up until now.

Chris Garrett we truly lost as well. I have no explanation on this one. I think he got pissed that Croom went after Russell after "publically saying" allegedly that he was going after one QB this class. When Henig retired, Croom had to go after another QB for depth at that position. I don't blame Croom for that decision.

I don't think we ever lost Co-Eric. I don't remember him being committed then dropping us. Maybe Im wrong.

Kenny Ashley can't graduate Juco. If the WCO is as hard to understand as Croom and the players say it is, then Ashley would've never cut it here. I consider that a no-loss as well.

Croom has done pretty well keeping the guys we have had committed.

I think he played mostly on special teams last year for the U.

As far as Garrett goes, who knows? I believe he committed before 2008 signing day. Croom made the comment on signing day that quarterback was the number one priority for next class and he would sign at least two. And he "thought" that we already had one committed for the next class. That was in February. He may have told CG something different prior to that.

Yeah he never publically committed, but he damn sure was a silent verbal to Croom. I loved when Glanton knocked him on that kickoff return. The Alabama coaches had to hide his helmet from him so he wouldn't put it back on and try to go in the game. Good times.

Not sure about the 90% number again, but I believe Halpert was talking about guys who commit early in the process. Go back and look at how many players you had commit before their senior season. Then figure out how many of those decommitted at least at some point. You've already had one this year (Garrett) though he could change his mind. It's still a decommitment.

to figure out that Garrett was waivering. He actually SAID it in an interview, but instead of reading the writing, sheep make excuses.
