To be trash. Trying to Watch with a 6 & 10 year old and Rhianna licks her palm and rubs her crotch like the orgy is on. Turned it off immediately but too late. Now get to answer the questions. I just remembered why I hate the NFL. Chris Stapleton singing the anthem was to lure us in to think maybe we can watch as a family. Halftime as usual washed that away. I blame myself for not learning a lesson over countless years of this crap

I turned it to a replay of On Patrol Live. To each his own with music. Not my cup of tea, but I can turn the channel, which I did. I’m sure millions loved it!

That was terrible. Honestly I didn’t even know she was still alive. Been a minute since she’s done anything. Bruno Mars was the best since prince. Super talented and puts on a hell of a show. Will we ever get a country performance again?

These Super Bowl Halftime shows threads have become so predictable.
I hate it, the kids of today, back in my day, you call that talent...

Sounds just like my parents back in the day.
That's funny. My memories of the Super Bowl halftime shows during my younger years was that they skewed toward performers of my parents generation: Chubby Checker, Patty LaBelle, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, ZZ Top, Smokey Robinson, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, etc.

Yeah, I peeked over at an investment site I'm on tonight. Some of those guys loved it. To each his own, I guess. I'm old enough that I loved Carly Simon, Carole King, James Taylor, Roberta Flack, the late Donna Summer and such. They are more my style. Heck, they showed Paul McCartney in the stands at the game. If they had pulled him out of the stands to perform, even without rehearsals, I would have gladly watched him, as I did at Winston-Salem last Spring.

They clearly said halftime would be 29 minutes and that was your cue to do a Bible study or cut your toenails. Why anyone would ever watch halftime is beyond me.

Prince, Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson were 3 of the best I can remember. But I am a 53 year old white guy so I guess that explains my picks

They've never been my cup of tea, but Super Bowl halftime shows used to be a spectacle. They're just boring and predictable now.

I would agree with the comments about the music. I think the vulgarity is a different matter though, that is independent of if you like the style of music.

They were saying the same thing about Madonna, Prince and others in the 80's
Way back in the day they said the same about Elvis, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis as well.
The more things change, the more that things stay the same.

lol, this line of rationale is always so weak. You can defend any kind of filth by saying "yeah, well, 30 years ago people complained that so and so was filthy."

Of course the line is always being pushed further and further, so what was once viewed as vile is now tame in comparison.

All that rationale does is demonstrate the degradation of human morality over time. Which is obvious.

By your rationale, you might as well let little kids watch hardcore porn b/c it used to be considered salacious if a husband and wife on TV show slept in the same bed.

You need to slow down there, and go back and read my post (slower this time)
I did not defend any artists or performer, I stated that like clockwork every year, the same thread comes out that some posters hated the show/performer with the same complaints.
What I did point out is that, the same complaints have been registering since the introduction of the early 50's rock performers

To me, they've been going downhill since Tom Petty. But I give Bruno Mars and Beyonce credit...At least they have talent.I didn't see much talent last night, that is before I turned to watch a Youtube video.

Gaga a few years back was legit. In spite of the extravagant costumes, when she sits at the piano and sings she's special.

He does have a point though. Setting aside the taste in music, it tells a lot about the decline when we point out that Elvis shaking his hips used to be shocking.

In order to continually one up the last guy, we've sunk lower and lower.

I just don’t think it’s very good entertainment, but I’m an older white guy and I know I’m not the target audience.I turn to other things.
Color shouldn’t be the issue… But you and I both know if we voice displeasure with that kind of behavior, we will be labeled old white guys like we’re somehow misinformed on what appropriate culture should be for kids. Sad stuff.

Right…. What do we expect from generations? Who now think a man showering in a little girls shower is appropriate if that man thinks it is.
